Salem

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Howard Avenue at 4:51 a.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person in question and advised them to keep away from the residence and move along.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 10:29 p.m. Tuesday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that a juvenile was harassing another over email. It was determined the juvenile that was allegedly being harassed did not live within the city limits and the caller was to have the juvenile along with their parents notify the proper department.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 4:01 p.m. Tuesday for a reported physical dispute. No injuries were reported, and the caller was provided with a report number for their records.

— Michael Delp, 48, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension and operating an ATV on the roadway after he was observed driving an ATV on the roadway on East Eighth Street and North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday.

— Officers on patrol were advised of a possible natural gas leak in the 2400 block of East State Street at 1:24 p.m. Tuesday. The fire department responded and checked the area with no leaks located.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday regarding a possible sex offense that occurred in the city. Officers collected information for the report, and the matter will be investigated.

— Michelle Shingleton, 37, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her southbound vehicle on Franklin Avenue struck a vehicle driven northbound on Franklin Avenue by Jason Papic, 50, Salem, at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday. Papic was treated on scene by the fire department for suspected minor injuries.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday for a report of possible phone harassment. Officers attempted to locate the owner of the number but were unable.

Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy responded at 10:13 p.m. Sunday to Leetonia Road, Salem Township, near Crestview Road, regarding cows in the roadway. The deputy found the cows and was eventually able to find the owner and herd the cows home.

— An alarm was reported at 5:38 p.m. Sunday at a Tomahawk Drive, Middleton Township residence, which a deputy found secure. Contact was made with the owners and the residence was checked with them and they advised everything was good.

— Justin Lee Vasquez, 34, East Liverpool Road, Lisbon, was charged with domestic violence and aggravated menacing and taken to the Columbiana County jail after deputies were dispatched at 7:15 p.m. Saturday to East Liverpool Road, Madison Township for a domestic violence report. Vasquez appeared in county Municipal Court, with a pretrial set for Jan. 26.

— A woman residing on Old Irondale Road, Yellow Creek Township reported at 5:10 p.m. Saturday that a man at her neighbor’s property keeps revving his dirt bike and she felt this was targeted harassment on her, due to other incidents she has had with him.

— A deputy a 4:33 p.m. Saturday returned a call regarding a civil matter on Malone Road, Washington Township.

— A deputy was dispatched at 3:17 p.m. Saturday to McCracken Road, Salem Township for a juvenile-related report, with the report sent to child protective services.

— An anonymous caller at 7:48 p.m. Friday reported a disturbance at a residence on Bell Road, Elkrun Township. Deputies had no contact with anyone at the residence.

— A domestic was reported at 8:51 p.m. Friday at a property on U.S. Route 30, West Township, with a refusal signed.

— A resident on North Pleasant Drive, Unity Township called at 6:31 p.m. Friday to report a vehicle with an Illinois license plate pulled into his driveway and then pulled back out and left the area.

— A woman on Depot Street, Rogers reported at 4:53 p.m. Friday that her ex-husband,, who lives in Salem Township, has made three false reports to Columbiana County Children’s Services about the condition of her residence where their children live with her.

— A theft was reported at 3:50 p.m. Thursday at a West Point Road, Madison Township property.

— An active alarm was reported at 7:23 a.m. Thursday on Sycamore Avenue in Salineville, where the property owner was having a problem with the keypad and was activating the alarm.

— A woman from Cusick Road, Madison Township reported at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday that Fed Ex delivered a package at 1 p.m. Tuesday containing medicine inside and left it at the end of the driveway. Now the package is missing.

Lisbon

— An officer on patrol at 3:01 a.m. Jan. 19 stopped in at a North Market Street business and spoke with the clerk who said two men had been loitering for an hour, causing concerns. The officer spoke with the men who said they were trying to call someone for a ride. Both men were requested to leave the store if they were not there to purchase anything.

— A K-9 officer was dispatched to assist a highway patrol trooper with narcotics detection in the area of state routes 154 and 11 at 2:59 a.m. Jan. 19.

— An officer responded to a state Route 154 facility at 10:19 a.m. Jan. 16 to assist medical personnel with a patient suffering a mental episode. The officer assisted until no longer needed.

— Police responded to the 300 block of West Washington Street at 1:17 a.m. Jan. 10 where a resident reported someone was harassing her son. She was advised of her options.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Jefferson Street at 1:33 a.m. Jan. 14 in reference to a person with a warrant for his arrest. Officers located Brian Tinker, no age or address listed, and took him into custody.

— Officers responded to the area of East Washington Street at 4:41 p.m. Jan. 5 in reference to someone riding a 4-wheeler on the roadway. Officers found the person traveling on South Market Street toward Grant Street and advised the driver that he was not permitted to operate the vehicle on village roadways.

— The attorney representing a woman in a case against her husband reported at 1:21 p.m. Dec. 31 the husband has been continuously contacting him by email despite being told to stop.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Conser Drive at 5:38 p.m. Monday to assist EMT and the fire department with a medical call.

— Officers responded to the area of Newgarden Avenue at 5:12 p.m. Monday for a reported hit and skip. The Ohio State Highway Patrol had stopped the other vehicle involved and found them to be impaired and took over the accident at both locations. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Allen Drive at 2:42 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that there was an unknown man wearing all black standing in their driveway earlier in the day who was driving a white vehicle, and they wanted a report on file.

— Officers provided traffic control at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and East State Street at 6:20 p.m. Monday for a crash between a Sebring ambulance and a tractor trailer.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 8:56 p.m. Sunday to assist Salem officers in locating a man attempting to force entry into a residence. Officers assisted in searching for the man.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Sunday for a reported hit and skip. A vehicle driven southbound on North Lincoln Avenue by Walter Crow, 30, Youngstown, passed a vehicle driven by Jason Fiehler, 40, Salem, and struck the driver’s side mirror of the vehicle while passing and failed to stop. Fiehler followed Crow to an address in the 1600 block where an altercation nearly occurred prior to the arrival of officers. Due to Crow possibly being intoxicated and other medical issues, the Salem Fire Department and EMT responded, but Crow refused medical treatment. The Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted field sobriety tests, and Crow was placed into custody and transported to the Salem police department for breath testing, which he refused. Crow was charged with OVI, a marked lanes violation, and hit and skip, and was released to a sober driver.

— Officers responded to the area of Benton Road and Michigan Avenue at 9:46 p.m. Friday for a report of vandalism. The caller advised that a man had thrown an object at his vehicle while he was traveling westbound on state Route 14. The vehicle had damage to the front passenger side fender. Further investigation is pending.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Pembrooke Drive at 1:45 a.m. Friday for a reported domestic altercation. When arriving, the male half had already left the scene and the caller advised that they had been backed into a corner and threatened but that nothing physical had occurred. The caller did not want to pursue charges or file a trespass notice. Officers were requested to contact the man and ask him not to return, and officers advised him of the same.

— Officers received a call regarding a follow-up on a civil issue that was reported on Oct. 13 last year at 5 p.m. Thursday. The caller advised that they had information indicating there may have been a criminal element of the incident which needed to be reported.

— Officers on patrol in the 1100 block of Prospect Street observed a man with an active warrant out of Portage County at 4:20 p.m. Jan. 14. The warrant was confirmed and the man, Charles Mellott, East Palestine, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail to wait for pickup to Portage County.

— Officers on patrol on Benton Road at 2:29 a.m. Jan. 13 located a vehicle near a business. The occupant advised officers they were going through the trash, and officers instructed them to be on their way.

— Officers on patrol in the area of state Route 45 and East Pidgeon Road at 6:38 p.m. Jan. 12 observed a large dog running loose through yards and in and out of the roadway. Officers slowed down and the dog ran into the side of the patrol vehicle and continued running in and out of the roadway. Officers contacted the owner and advised them of the matter. There was no damage to the patrol vehicle, and the owner of the dog later called and advised that it was home and uninjured.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street with the Salem Police Department K-9 Unit at 5:35 p.m. Jan. 12 to attempt to locate three people with felony warrants out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers could hear people inside when they attempted contact, but the occupants hid and refused to answer the door while officers were present.

Columbiana

— Noah Ferrier, of Salem, was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Jan. 15 on charges of OVI and improper handling of a motor vehicle after a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Main Street.

— Micah Butcher, of New Springfield, was cited at 4:46 p.m. Jan. 13 for failure to maintain an assured clear distance and hit-skip after a crash at state routes 7 and 14.

— A report was taken in regards to a private property crash between a vehicle and ambulance at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 in the Southern Terrace mobile home park.

— Patrick Vecchio, no address listed, was cited at 1:25 p.m. Jan. 11 in the 800 block of Fairfield Avenue with no operator’s license and expired plates.

Leetonia

— Police investigated a suspicious unoccupied vehicle parked at the Leetonia Laundromat at 1:55 a.m. Jan. 11. The building was secure.

— An officer noticed an open window at 3:17 a.m. Jan. 11 in the 300 block of Front Street. Seemingly too high to be accessible from the street, the window appeared to be left open by individuals remodeling the structure as the property looked gutted

— Chelsey Tate, no address listed, was cited at 4:33 a.m. Jan. 17 for driving under suspension and expired plates as well given a verbal warning for open container and marked lanes. She was transported to the station, where she blew a 0.00 breath test, after she was pulled over near state Route 344 and State Street.

— An officer assisted at 1:09 p.m. Jan. 17 with a choking baby near the intersection of Main and Chestnut streets. The vehicle approached a nearby visible cruiser to get assistance. After the baby was breathing again, the woman refused to transport via ambulance.

— An officer assisted county deputies with loose cattle at 10:56 p.m. Jan. 18 near Oakdale Cemetery.

— Andrew Smith, no address listed, was cited at 1:36 p.m. Jan. 20 for driving under suspension near Ridge and Leetonia roads

East Palestine

— A North Market Street business reported at 8:28 a.m. Jan. 21 that a vehicle had been abandoned in their parking lot for several days. They will confirmed authority to tow it away.

— A zoning violation involving a junk vehicle was reported at 4:10 p.m. Jan 20 in the 600 block of West North Avenue.

— Michael Bouggine, no address listed, was cited at 1:21 p.m. Jan. 16 for fictitious plates and speed on North Market Street near the village limits

— The owner of a dog at large was given a verbal warning at 4:19 p.m. Jan. 17 in the 200 block of East Martin Street.

— Police responded to separate disturbances at 9:23 p.m. Jan. 16 and 3:37 p.m. Jan. 17.

— An officer responded at 8:22 a.m. Jan.16 to the Sunoco station for a male yelling at “unseen” people.

— Crossing gates at a railroad crossing were malfunctioning at 3:23 p.m. Jan. 14 on North Market Street.

— Taylor Holzer and Laura Masters, no addresses listed, were arrested at 8:17 a.m. Jan. 14 for domestic violence, after police responded to a disturbance.

— Michael Fowler, no address listed, was arrested at 10:36 p.m. Jan. 13 on a charge of domestic violence, after police responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of West Clark Street.
