Patrol

— Wyatt Cooper, of Rochester Road in East Rochester, was cited at 10:58 a.m. Dec. 15 for failure to control in West Township, after his eastbound vehicle went off the right side of Sandy Creek Road and struck a fence.

— Cameron Anderson, of Hammond School Road in Wellsville, wasn’t cited at 4:18 p.m. Dec. 15 in Madison Township, after his northeast bound vehicle traveled off the right side of Hammond School Road and into a ditch due to road conditions.

— Mark Bucher, of state Route 14 in East Palestine, was not cited at 7:16 p.m. in Unity Township, after his vehicle struck the base of a poorly placed manhole cover, resulting in his crash.

— Matthew Berger, of King Road in Salem, was cited for both failure to control and hit-skip at 11:23 p.m. Dec. 13 in Hanover Township, after his eastbound vehicle traveled off the left side of U.S. Route 30 and overturned. His abandoned vehicle was reported by a passer-by as he was not on scene nor did he report the incident.

— Kaelyn Makruns, of Clarksville, Pa., was not cited due to road conditions at 8:35 p.m. Dec. 11 in Madison Township, after her southbound vehicle went off the right side of state Route 45 and hit a utility pole.

— Christina Meyer, of state Route 14 in East Palestine, was cited at 5:29 pm. Dec. 13 in Salem Township for a left of center violation, after her eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and was struck by Anthony Keaton, of Massillon.

— Michelle King, of East Third Street in Salem, was cited at 10:25 a.m. Dec. 11 in Salem Township for failure to control, after her northbound vehicle went off the left side of Lisbon Road, striking an embankment before overturning.

— Katarina Knouff, of Youngstown, was cited at 6:17 a.m. Dec. 10 in Unity Township, after her southbound vehicle went off the left side of state Route 165 and struck a ditch and tree.

Salem

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 12:18 p.m. Thursday. Officers were able to speak with the person in question, who was subsequently transported to the emergency room by ambulance.

— Officers on patrol in the area of Park Avenue and Oak Street at 2:04 a.m. Thursday observed a vehicle in the park after hours. The vehicle was unoccupied and when officers ran a check on the license plate, the vehicle was flagged as having been stolen out of Goshen Township. The Goshen Police District was contacted, and officers stood by until they arrived.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Arch Street at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday for a reported custody dispute. The caller advised that they believed their ex-husband took the children out of the state. Officers attempted to contact the ex-husband unsuccessfully but found that it was their holiday and weekend to have custody and that they did not appear to be outside of the custody agreement.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 4:08 p.m. Wednesday for a reported shoplifter. The woman in question admitted to attempting to take $258.28 of merchandise without paying. The store manager did not want the woman to be trespassed, and officers advised that a court summons would be issued at a later date. While officers spoke with the woman she was acting erratically and EMT was requested and transported her to the Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Third Street at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired. Officers spoke with an involved party, John McCallister, 54, Salem, who advised that it was a bottle rocket, and had an active warrant out of Columbiana County. McCallister was taken into custody for the warrant, and contraband was recovered from him. The contraband will be turned over to the Columbiana Country Drug Enforcement Task Force for testing, and McCallister was transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the area of South Ellsworth Avenue at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Mound Street at 10:11 a.m. Wednesday to assist the fire department and EMT with a report of a person having a possible mental health crisis. When officers arrived, the person in question was assessed and then transported to an appropriate medical facility.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:06 a.m. Wednesday for a reported burglary. When officers arrived, they found that it was actually a domestic dispute and property dispute. Officers checked for the property that was allegedly taken, but it was not located, and both parties were advised that the matter was civil.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the residents, who advised that they hadn’t called 911.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Third Street at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that a light kept turning off and on at an abandoned house. Officers checked the house and found it to be secure, and that there were no signs of anyone being on the property.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Euclid Street at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday for a reported structure fire. When officers arrived, the building was observed to be fully involved with smoke showing. Officers stood by and provided traffic control and assistance where needed.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Third Street at 5:12 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious people with hoodies and ski masks on. The caller delayed contacting officers for approximately 20 minutes, and officers checked the area but were unable to locate the individuals.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday for a reported scam. The caller advised that they rented a van and had a confirmation but was advised that his payment did not go through, and that an alternate payment method was also taken. The caller contacted the rental company and filed a fraud claim but asked officers to document the incident as well.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Roosevelt Avenue and East Third Street at 4 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a person soliciting. Officers located the person in question and advised them that soliciting was not permitted in the city. Officers also spoke with the person’s employer and advised them of the same.
