— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 7:44 p.m. Thursday regarding a custody issue. Officers explained their options.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil matter. Officers spoke with the caller and advised them that they would need to contact an attorney.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 6:27 p.m. Thursday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that their son and two other juveniles broke out a window of a vacated residence. The caller advised that her son is seen on video with two other juveniles throwing rocks at the window and breaking it. Officers spoke with the parents of the other juveniles and advised that the homeowner would be contacted. Photos of the window were taken, and officers were able to obtain the video.

— Officers responded to Centennial Park at 4:29 p.m. for a report of two backpacks left in the wooden playground area. Officers located two backpacks left in the playground area which had a note on them stating they were free and had toys in them. Officers took the backpacks for safekeeping and will check security footage to see who left them in the playground area.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Third Street at 12:42 p.m. Wednesday for a report of criminal trespassing. The caller advised that two people were found sleeping in the basement of a property that is supposed to be vacated. Officers escorted Thomas Welsh, 40, Salem, and Lindsey Willard, 37, Salem, out of the property and found that one of them had recently been evicted from the property. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with criminal trespassing.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Highland Avenue at 10:56 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle parked on the wrong side of the roadway. When officers arrived, it was found that the vehicle had left prior to their arrival.

— While on the scene of another call in the 1000 block of West State Street at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday were advised of theft. The caller advised that copper wire had been stolen from their trailer over the weekend. An unknown man was captured on video footage from the neighboring business. Officers advised that a report would be made.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of West State Street at 8:39 a.m. Wednesday for a report of trespassing. The caller advised that an unknown man had attempted to get into the company van from the passenger side before walking back to the company’s trailer and returning to attempt entry from the van’s driver’s side before walking over to the adjacent business parking lot. Officers advised that a report would be on file for an extra patrol in the area.
