Sheriff’s Office

— A man on Lowmiller Road, West Township, requested deputies at 8:50 p.m. Saturday to remove a female relative who just got out of prison and was living at the residence. Deputies spoke with both parties and the man was advised of the eviction process.

— A loose cow was reported at 8:08 p.m. Saturday in the road in the 4600 block of Depot Road in Butler Township. Deputies were able to get the cow back into its fenced area.

— A woman on Boston Street, Salem Township, reported at 5:01 p.m. Saturday her soon-to-be ex-husband from Youngstown arrived at her residence and put some of her belongings on the property and then left in his vehicle. She has told him multiple times to stay off of the property where she lives with a relative. The relative also said she doesn’t want him on the property. A deputy spoke to him by phone and told him to stay off the property.

— Deputies were dispatched at 3:40 p.m. Saturday to Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township, for a domestic violence report. A refusal was signed.

— A deputy was dispatched at 6:15 p.m. Friday to the area of the bike trail and the covered bridge on Eagleton Road, Salem Township for found property. The property was transported back to the sheriff’s office for safekeeping.

— A man on Westville Lake Road, Knox Township reported at 6:14 p.m. Friday that he wanted a woman to move out of the other residence on his property that he rents to her. The eviction process was explained to him.

— A deputy was dispatched at 11:57 p.m. July 29 to Wilson Street, Salineville, for a report of a juvenile in a mental health crisis. The person was taken to the hospital for assistance.

— A domestic dispute was reported at 6:55 a.m. July 29 on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township where parties were arguing over keys locked in a vehicle. The caller was complaining that she had to go to work and was now late. She claimed the spouse would not help her get into the vehicle after she had locked the keys in the vehicle the night before. She said they shoved one another. The spouse denied any physical confrontation and neither had any obvious marks or injuries. Neither wanted to press charges and a refusal was signed.

Patrol

— Lee Boswell, of New Springfield, was cited at 1:38 p.m. July 30 in Fairfield Township for failure to yield. Boswell was westbound on Heck Road and stopped at its intersection with state Route 7, when he pulled out in front of Brendan Dolan, of Columbiana, and was struck.

— Christopher Rimoldi, of East Palestine, was cited at 1:50 p.m. Aug. 1 in Rogers for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, after striking a vehicle driven by David Noll, of Jeanette, Pa. From behind.

— Pamela Benner, of Kensington, was cited at 11:07 a.m. July 31 in Center Township for failure to obey a traffic control device, after her vehicle was struck on the side by Carli Kriner, of Alliance near the intersection of state Route 45 and Adams Road.

— Jaden Rogers, of Hammond School Road in Wellsville, was cited at 4:54 p.m. July 26 in Yellow Creek Township for failure to obey a traffic control device, after failing to yield to Damian Shaw, of East Main Street in Salineville.

— Conner Lowdermilk, of Carrollton, was cited at 11:36 p.m. July 21 in West Township for failure to control, after driving off the side of Knox School Road while southbound.

Leetonia

–Police performed a welfare check at 11:03 a.m. July 31 in the 200 block of Oak Street.

–Janet Kleinknecht was given a warning for her loose dog at 11:25 a.m. July 28 in the 300 block of Anglemyer.

–A female was transported to Salem emergency room, after expressing suicidal tendencies earlier in the day at 10:46 a.m. July 29 in the 200 block of High Street.

–A female reported at 5:39 p.m. July 31 that someone vandalized her mailbox in the 100 block of Bears Den Road.

–Shortly after midnight on Aug. 1, police investigated a running vehicle in the library parking lot that was trying to find directions to Boardman. After directing them accordingly, the officer told them that they were trespassing after hours and needed to leave.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Avenue at 4:09 a.m. Monday for a reported residential alarm. Officers spoke with the occupant who advised that everything was okay.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Third Street at 10:33 p.m. Sunday to assist Perry Township officers in the 100 block of West Third Street. A vehicle was stolen from the township and was reported to have been in the area. The vehicle was not located.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 8:49 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. She advised that she had come to see her son, who lives with his father, and that he would not permit her to visit with the juvenile who was being yelled at. Officers checked on the juvenile who was determined to be okay and the caller was ultimately permitted to visit with the child for several minutes. The child elected to leave with his mother.

— Officers on patrol in the 1000 block of West State Street at 8:36 p.m. Sunday observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the occupants, finding that the passenger had an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, and K-9 Ferro was deployed and indicated to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle and contraband was located. Officers took the passenger, Bambi Woodworth, 42, Salem, into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail. The driver was issued a written warning for the traffic violations.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Whinnery Road at 8:35 p.m. Sunday for a report of a missing 4-year-old juvenile. The caller advised that she sent her son to his room but then was unable to find him anywhere. As officers were searching the area the caller advised that she located him inside the house.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 7:31 p.m. Sunday regarding a child custody issue. They advised that her husband, who was living elsewhere, had their young son with him but wouldn’t allow her to see him. She was advised that the matter was civil, and she would need to contact the courts.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Seventh Street at 5:52 p.m. Sunday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department regarding a report of fraud at 4:26 p.m. Sunday. The person advised that someone had been making unauthorized withdrawals against his bank account through Meta. The charges, which began in March, were only $2 initially and hadn’t been noticed as a result but have since increased to $20 which caught their attention and have totaled approximately $300 so far. The person had already notified his bank, but they needed a police report for the fraudulent charges to be reimbursed.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 12:36 p.m. Sunday for a report of a woman heard yelling and arguing with another person. When officers arrived, they were able to hear the woman yelling from inside the residence and advised her of the complaint and to stop yelling.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Third Street at 12:03 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the man in question is not taking medications and acting manic. Officers located the man, who was able to answer all questions, and did not observe any behaviors at that time forcing the man to be seen at a medical facility.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West 10th Street at 3:50 a.m. Sunday for a report of a chimney from an abandoned residence falling and landing in the caller’s driveway next door. Officers found approximately 20 bricks from the chimney of the property lying in the driveway with no damage to the caller’s property. She was advised that the report would be forwarded to the housing department to be addressed with the owner of the residence.

— Officers responded to the area of Vine Avenue and East Sixth Street at 1:20 a.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that a man and woman were arguing outside, and it sounded like the woman was in distress. Officers spoke with a dating couple who advised that they were having a disagreement and nothing physical had taken place. They were advised to keep the noise down.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:53 p.m. Saturday for a reported fight. Officers spoke with the owner of the bar who advised that a woman was sitting and spitting on people. Nobody wanted to pursue charged and the woman in question was criminally trespassed from the property.
