Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday to Center Avenue, Center Township for two people arguing about where they can put their garbage for pickup. One of them advised the deputy there was no issue. The other could not be located.
— A man on Center Road, Knox Township, reported at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday that his neighbor continues to yell and harass him for no reason. He was advised how to obtain a protection order.
East Palestine
— Officers responded to Strawberry Alley at 4 p.m. on March 10 to a report of cornhole boards blocking an alley. At the scene, officers found several people playing cornhole in a driveway, not blocking any roadway.
— Officers responded at 12:16 p.m. to East Main for a domestic disturbance. No charges were filed.
— Officers took a report from an individual at 9:16 a.m. on March 10 who advised that someone had remotely accessed her Ohio Direction card and spent over $100 of SNAP benefits.
— Officers responded to a car alarm at 12:08 p.m. on March 9 on Wood St..
— Officers responded to the Dollar General Store on March 8 at 8:16 p.m. to a report that a man was growling at a woman and making comments. Stepfan Anthony, no age given, Cleveland, was found to be under the influence of marijuana and, under questioning, gave the officer a fake name. He was later arrested for obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. It was later discovered Anthony had two warrants out of Cuyahoga County.
— Officers were advised a juvenile picked up and threw a stone to the ground at Dairy Mill at 5:09 p.m. on March 8 on Walnut. Officers found no one in the area.
— A dog was found in the police department parking lot and returned to its owner at 12:24 p.m. on March 8.
— Officers conducted a welfare check at 11:39 a.m. on March 8 West Main Street. The subject was found intoxicated but responsive and refused medical treatment.
— Officers received a report of a juvenile walking from New Waterford to East Palestine at 10:49 a.m. on March 8. The juvenile was not located in the area of Bacon Avenue he was reported to be in.
— Natalie Granito, no age or address given, was arrested at 11:14 p.m. on March 7 following a traffic stop on West Main Street. Granito was charged with OVI.
— Officers responded to Wood Street to a report of a possible disturbance. Officers checked the area with negative contact.
— Officers were called at 1 p.m. to East Palestine High School on March 7 following a disturbance. A student was removed from campus and changers may be pending regarding the incident and social media posts that followed.
— Officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol, providing mutual aid for a traffic accident on state Route 14 at 1:09 a.m. on March 7.
Leetonia
— Adam Bailey Jr. was cited at 1:20 a.m. March 17 for going 58 mph in a 35 mph zone and driving without a valid license on Hazel Street near Columbia. The officer didn’t tow the vehicle, as the driver was on the way to Boardman hospital to meet his wife, who had gone into labor.
— A city woman had reported on station at 11:59 p.m. March 14 that several juveniles had attempted to lure her 12-year-old son to Wick Park to assault him. Leetonia school has already spoke with the boys about their actions at school.
— Police investigated a 911 hang-up call from the 200 block of Oak Street. The officer could not find an emergency.
— Columbiana police called Leetonia police at 11:01 p.m. March 12, requesting a female police officer to search a female prisoner on a traffic stop at state Route 7 and Heck Road.
— Police officers responded at 5:25 p.m. March 7 in the 100 block of Oak Street to assist a choking 1-year-old baby. Eventually the baby, cleared his airway of the mozzarella stick and was checked by EMS when they arrived. The female caller refused transport.
— Police attempted to make contact with an address on East High Street, after receiving a 911 hang-up at 7:42 p.m. March 17.
— A parent at Wick Park reported at 5:28 p.m. May 17 that her son was assaulted by another juvenile. The dispute started earlier in the day on the bus. The female parent didn’t wish to press charges but a report was put on file.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Vine Avenue at 6:29 p.m. Monday for a reported overdose. Officers stood by while the fire department and EMT provided medical aid and contacted a detective from the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force to respond and contraband was recovered and turned over to the task force. The woman was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center where officers spoke with her and all information will be forwarded to the detective.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 5:02 p.m. Monday for a reported person to be removed. Officers located the person in question sitting in their vehicle in the parking lot. Officers spoke with the person in question and advised that she was no longer welcome at the business. The woman advised that she understood then left the area.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 2:47 p.m. Monday for a report of illegal dumping. The caller advised that someone had thrown trash away in the dumpster. Officers asked if he was the owner of the dumpster, and he advised he was not, and officers advised him to have the owner call if they wanted to make a complaint.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:21 p.m. Monday regarding a stolen bicycle. The caller advised that sometime the day prior he parked his bicycle in the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue while visiting a friend and when he came out it was gone. They also advised that there was a camouflage bag attached to his bike that had his medication in it and needed a report on file due to the medication also being taken.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Legacy Lane at 12:23 p.m. Monday for a reported civil issue. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
