Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies and Leetonia police assisted Columbiana police in taking Brandon Shaffer, Wood Aly, Washingtonville, into custody on warrants out of their jurisdiction at his residence.
— A deputy was dispatched at 4:26 p.m. Friday to Hartley Road, Knox Township, for a juvenile-related report, with the report sent to Child Protective services.
— Deputies were dispatched at 3:56 p.m. Friday to Lisbon Road, Center Township for a medical call involving a juvenile. EMT Ambulance transported the juvenile to Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman.
Columbiana
— A male subject reported at 1:54 p.m. Feb. 2 that a suspicious male was walking around his home in the 400 block of Firestone Avenue while his son was home alone. The male had left prior to their arrival.
— A suicidal female was voluntarily transported to a hospital at 7:12 p.m. Jan. 31 from the 400 block of North Middle Street.
— An officer took a crash report on station at 2:55 p.m. Jan. 30.
— Officers responded to the Premier Bank at 12:52 pm. Jan. 30, where a male was pink slipped and transported to East Liverpool City Hospital.
— Property damage involving a semi and low hanging wire was reported at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 29 in the 300 block of North Main Street.
— A traffic crash near the entrance of Burger King was taken at 11:05 a.m. Jan. 29.
— Police investigated an assault report at 8:20 p.m. Jan. 28 in Wendy’s after a male employee allegedly pulled a knife on a co-worker. After an investigation, it was determined that no crime occurred.
— Terry Lee Phillip, of Campbell, was cited at 1:36 a.m. Jan. 27 near Burger King for driving under suspension, after a traffic stop was conducted for expired registration.
— Rebecca Flores, of Salem was cited at 8:21 p.m. Jan. 26 near North Main and 6th streets for driving under suspension and a marked lanes violation, while her passenger Frank Phillips, 28, was cited for violating a protection order.
— A vehicle was reported stolen at 1:33 p.m. Jan. 26 from the Wind Rose Apartments.
— A license plate was reported stolen at 12:43 p.m. Jan. 25 at Firestone Farms.
Salem
— Officers received a tip involving sexual abuse material at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday. The incident is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of West Sixth Street at 8:13 a.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller had questions about a tree near the roadway with rotting branches hanging over the roadway. The caller didn’t know if the city or they had to remove the branches and officers advised them to contact the city zoning officer.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Euclid Street at 5:58 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible water line break. A minor break was located, and the water department was contacted to handle the matter.
— Officers spoke with an individual on station at 3:21 p.m. Saturday who reported unknown charges on his bank account. The individual said he had already canceled the bank card and he was advised to follow up with his bank.
— Dario Dante Valentini, Youngstown, was arrested on a warrant for fugitive of justice out of Chippewa Township after officers responded to the 800 block of East Fourth Street in reference to a possible warrant at 11:29 a.m. Friday.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East State Street at 4:54 p.m. Friday in reference to a person inside a business who was not allowed to be there. The person in question was advised he had to leave.
— While working as a school resource officer, an officer was advised of social media issues at 12:24 p.m. Friday. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 9:05 a.m. Friday in reference to a customer paying for one can of kerosene, but pumping two, then traveling north on Rose Avenue. Officers were unable to locate the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 2:31 p.m. Thursday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force on an alleged sex offense. Officers seized $120 in cash as evidence.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 9 a.m. Thursday where a resident wanted another person removed. Officers found no threats or physical violence and advised the resident the other person could not be made to leave. Both people were advised to keep separated for the time being.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Sixth Street at 7:11 a.m. Thursday in reference to a tree that had fallen on the complainant’s residence, damaging a fence and resulting in cracks inside the home. Officers responded with the fire department to gather photos of the damage. Officers also requested the street department respond to removed the tree from the alley.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 6:37 a.m. Thursday in reference to someone who needed to go to the hospital. Officers spoke with the person who did not want to go to the hospital, but ultimately agreed to be transported to the Alliance hospital.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 6:21 p.m. Monday regarding a custody issue. The person advised there was a court order for the father of her child to have visitations on the weekend and that when the visitation was over, and she went to pick the child up they weren’t at the house. The caller was advised to contact the court.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:34 p.m. Monday regarding illegal dumping. The caller advised that several people were seen throwing trash into his dumpsters and provided officers with the vehicle’s license plate. Officers spoke with the person in question, advising them that if they returned, they would face criminal trespass charges. The caller was advised that contact was made and to contact officers if the issue continued.
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 2:30 p.m. Monday for a reported intoxicated person. The caller advised that there was a man drinking alcohol in the store. Officers located the man who advised that he threw the beverages away when asked by employees. The person was transported to the station where he was later picked up by a family member and the store did not wish to trespass them.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Third Street at 6:18 a.m. Monday for a report of a possible intoxicated person. Officers located the person in question, Brice Chamberlain, 20, Salem, unconscious in his vehicle with multiple open containers of alcohol. Officers were able to wake Chamberlain up and assist him out of his vehicle and he admitted to being underage and consuming alcohol. Chamberlain was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with underage consumption.
— Officers on patrol in the 800 block of Washington Avenue at 12:25 a.m. Sunday observed a large tree limb in the roadway. Officers were able to remove the limb from the roadway to the curb lawn. A note was left for the street department to cleanup.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 11:28 p.m. Saturday for a civil standby while a party retrieved their property. Officers assisted them and provided legal options.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Newgarden Avenue at 9:06 p.m. Saturday for a report of harassment. Officers collected information.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road at 2:03 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a person possibly driving around an apartment building. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street at 8:31 p.m. Feb. 4 for a report of a person shining flashlights at passing cars. Officers found that the people in question were just released from the hospital and were walking home.
— Officers spoke with a person by phone at 1:38 p.m. Feb. 4 for a reported civil issue. The caller advised their soon to be ex-husband is destroying her personal property while she is not at the residence.
