Highway Patrol

— Shirley Bell, of Meadow Place in Columbiana, was cited at 11:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in Elkrun Township for failure to control after her southwest bound vehicle when off the right side of state Route 154, hit a guardrail before returning to the roadway and going off the left side and hitting another guardrail.

— Heather Harmony, of North Howard Avenue in Salem, was cited at 12:27 p.m. Dec. 15 in Butler Township with failure to control after her southbound vehicle traveled left of center and off the left side of the road while on state Route 9 before going down an embankment and striking an utility pole.

— Ruth Leak, of Prospect Street in Salem, was cited at 12:25 p.m. Dec. 15 for failure to control after her southbound vehicle went off the roadway while traveling on state Route 9 and hit a guardrail.

— Jane Metz, of Poland, was cited at 5:58 p.m. Dec. 9 for failure to control in Fairfield Township after her westbound vehicle drove off the left side of Columbiana-Waterford Road and struck an embankment.

Leetonia

— Police responded at 7:34 pm. Tuesday to the 700 block Columbia Street to an open call to 911. The call was accidental by a young child.

— A complainant arrived on station at 5:33 p.m. Dec. 10 to file a report that his vehicle was the victim of a hit-skip. Brett Davis, of Egypt Road in Salem, said that he was traveling east on Butcher Road when a silver Ford truck, traveling the opposite direction, ran him off the road into the ditch and breaking his entire driver’s side mirror off before fleeing.

East Palestine

— Officers responded to Sparkle Market on South Market Street at 9:27 p.m. on Monday to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers made contact and the scene was cleared.

— Officers responded to East Main Street regarding an ongoing custody battle at 5:35 p.m. on Monday.

— A female resident came to the station to discuss issues with her family at 5:37 p.m. on Saturday. The woman was advised it was a civil matter and that she should speak to an attorney.

— Officers responded at 3;44 p.m. on Friday to the Dollar General on North Market Street for an accident. Officers spoke to both parties and filed a report.

— Officers responded at 1:17 a.m. to North Market on Dec. 11 to a report a man was threatening to hurt himself. Officers made contact and determined it was a misunderstanding and no threats of violence were made toward himself or others.

Salem

— Officers on patrol in the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:37 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle parked illegally in a no parking zone. Officers were able to locate the driver who moved the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Fourth Street at 12:32 p.m. Monday to speak with a caller who advised of a previously reported theft. It was advised the caller wanted to press charges and the caller was advised the officer who took the initial report would be notified.

— Officers spoke to a man at 12:12 p.m. Monday regarding threatening phone calls he has been receiving. There was a language barrier, and an interpreter had to be used via phone, and the caller advised they had a man go to their home in Texas and he was worried they would find him in Ohio. Officers advised the caller a police report would be made, and to contact the local police in Texas to make a report with them.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East State Street at 10:47 a.m. Monday to assist the fire department with an ambulance needed call. The fire department requested officers for traffic control due to the location of the call. Officers directed traffic until the fire department departed.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 10:05 a.m. Monday regarding her cats possibly being poisoned back in October. Officers advised the caller to keep her cats inside to prevent any further issues.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 900 block of Salem Parkway at 8:09 a.m. Monday for an ambulance needed call. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 10:16 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the involved parties and were advised that an altercation occurred hours prior to the call. Due to conflicting stories all parties were advised to stay away from each other for the night.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Southeast Boulevard at 9:27 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. The caller advised that his girlfriend that he resides with started hitting him. Officers noticed the caller had blood on his hands and visible red marks on his back from a broom. Officers took the person in question, Matte Dejane, 30, Salem, into custody charged with domestic violence, and transported them to the police department for processing prior to transporting them to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday for a reported runaway juvenile. Officers found the person in question down the street and brought them back to the residence.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 8:11 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on a juvenile. It was found the juvenile had left the residence and officers located and returned the juvenile to the residence.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. Officers were advised that it was a verbal altercation and nothing physical occurred.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday for a report of possible fraud on a dependent’s social security account. Officers gathered information and the matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Prospect Street at 11:43 a.m. Tuesday to assist Davidson Towing with releasing a vehicle from the tow yard. When officers arrived, the vehicle was released to a valid driver.

— Officers responded to the area of Jennings Avenue and West Ninth Street at 11:03 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man walking down the street wearing a ski mask carrying what appeared to be a toy gun. Officers found the gun was in fact a toy and the man was wearing the mask to keep the wind out of his face. Officers did not observe any suspicious behavior, and the man was given a courtesy transport to his residence.

— Officers on patrol near the 200 block of East State Street observed a male juvenile around toddler age walking alone on the sidewalk at 10:53 a.m. Tuesday. Upon investigation officers found the juvenile had walked to far away from his parents who were behind him.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious person possibly trespassing. Officers located the individual on the front porch and identified them as an employee of the company that auctioned the property last week that was there to address a heating issue which had resulted from a prior tenant moving out and the gas being shut off. The gas company had turned it back on the day prior and the individual was confirming the furnace was functioning and alternative electric heaters they had installed as a temporary heating source were being removed. Officers also spoke with a representative from the auctioneering company who advised the property had not been closed on yet and was still their responsibility.
