Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 10:03 p.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of Valley Road in Butler Township for a cow in the roadway. The deputy checked the area, with nothing found.

St. Clair Township

— Officers searched an area on state Route 170 for a jeep after receiving a report of a jeep swerving all over the road on Nov. 27.

— Aldi’s on state Route 170 was found to be secure after officers responded there for an alarm on Nov. 28.

— A male came to the police station on Nov. 30 and turned in a Farmers Bank debit card he found in the ATM at the Farmers Bank Branch on state Route 170.

— Officers responded to a report of lights on in a vacant house on Maple Lane on Dec. 1.

— Officers found a building on Dresden Avenue to be secure after responding to an alarm on Dec. 1. They contacted the keyholder who said if the building was secure, he would check it in the morning.

— A male was asked to move along by officers who responded to a call from Sheetz on Dec. 1. The male told officers he had been sitting for a while and just went in to purchase a fountain drink. Officer noted the male had no problem leaving and did not appear to be in any mental distress as had been reported.

— Officers cleared a tub with what appeared to be bingo equipment and paperwork from state Route 170 on Dec. 2. With no names on the items to identify who they belonged to officers disposed of them in a dumpster.

— An officer had to use one round to put a deer out of distress on St. Clair Avenue on Dec. 3. The caller who was on the scene when the officer arrived took the deer for meat.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of East Third Street at 3:23 p.m. Sunday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that a man had yelled derogatory statements at her while driving past. Officers spoke with the woman earlier for a similar incident. Officers were unable to locate the man. The caller was advised to contact officers if the man returned.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 12:42 p.m. Sunday for a report of a juvenile left unattended in a vehicle. When officers arrived the mother of the juvenile came out of Wendy’s and got inside her vehicle. Officers spoke with them and advised her of the complaint and that the incident will be sent to a prosecutor for review.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Carole Drive at 2:14 a.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. The caller advised her friend’s boyfriend was at the residence and that he was intoxicated and acting disorderly. When officers arrived, contact was made with both parties and officers found the boyfriend to be bleeding from his hand. It was reported that the couple had gotten into a verbal argument which resulted in the man punching a door and causing injury to himself. He claimed to have been struck in the face by the woman and fallen, injuring his hand in the process, but there was no evidence to support that claim. The boyfriend refused medical attention, and he was picked up by his brother.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 2:15 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they were concerned with items inside a vehicle that were obstructing the view of the driver. Officers spoke with the driver, advising them of the complaint, and officers were able to help the driver clear the obstructions from the windows to provide a better view while driving.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 1:22 p.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that him and his girlfriend got into a verbal altercation and at one point the female party had a firearm. The caller had left prior to officers’ arrival and the female party denied that there was a firearm involved, and that the dispute was verbal only.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:15 a.m. Saturday for a report of a stolen temporary license plate. Officers responded, collected the information and the plate has been entered into LEADS.

— Officers spoke to two people at the police department at 8:18 a.m. Saturday regarding an incident involving their juvenile son. Officers were advised of an ongoing issue with another juvenile and the matter is under investigation.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:04 a.m. Saturday for a report of a person constantly monitoring the activities of the caller’s juvenile granddaughter. Officers gathered information and suggested that the caller contact the court regarding a potential restraining order. Officers explained the criminal offense of menacing by stalking and advised the caller to retain existing videos and messages from the individual to be used for further investigation should problems persist, and a potential criminal case have to be established.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East State Street at 6:39 a.m. Saturday for a report of a vehicle parked on the street taking up two spots. Officers issued a 48-hour parking warning on the vehicle and will follow up at a later time to check if it has been moved.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 7:29 p.m. Friday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that they told someone to leave the building, and they would not. The caller then wanted the juvenile trespassed, but they left prior to officers’ arrival. Officers had them fill out a trespass notice and advised it would be issued when the juvenile was located.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:57 p.m. Friday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that a person was using her name on social media. No threats were made in the post, and the caller was explained her options for the evening. They asked the matter be documented.

— Nikki Tran, 21, Canfield, was cited for lighted lights required after her westbound vehicle proceeded with its headlights off on East State Street causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven by John Karash, 74, Lake Milton, while turning into a private lot at 6:05 p.m. Friday. Karash was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 5:55 p.m. Friday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that two juveniles were making fake profiles and harassing his daughter. He asked that it be stopped and that their parents be contacted. Officers were able to speak with both mother of th juvenile’s advising them of the incident and told them to have the juveniles stop contacting the caller’s daughter and that failure to do so could result in possible charges.

— Jacqueline Hahlen, 80, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her eastbound vehicle on East State Street struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Nathaniel Haynie, 42, Columbiana at 5:55 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Tenth Street at 4:34 p.m. Friday for a reported reckless operator that was traveling into the other lanes of travel. Officers were able to locate the vehicle, observing no signs of impairment, and the driver admitted to being distracted by a cellphone. The driver was advised of the distracted driving law.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:33 p.m. Friday for a report of criminal trespass. The caller advised two people have been harassing multiple employees at their workplace and that they would like them trespassed from the property.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:25 p.m. Friday regarding an incident in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The person advised that they had work done to their vehicle a few months back and started having the same issues again, and that an argument had taken place with no physical violence observed on camera and the two parties went their separate ways.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible drug overdose. Officers located a woman that was already brought into the hospital and nurses advised they were okay at that time and officers attempted to collect all the information. The overdose occurred somewhere outside the city limits and officers were unable to locate where the incident occurred, and officers will forward the information to the Drug Enforcement Task Force.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 12:19 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle in question. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle, and the Leetonia Police Department was asked to check for the vehicle at a residence in their jurisdiction.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday for a report of accidental damage. Officers located the damage and collected photos. A report was collected for documentation purposes only.

— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of debris in the roadway. A section of the roadway has broken, and officers stood by until traffic and safety arrived on scene and placed a barricade to block the damaged roadway.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Allen Road at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday for a report of people possibly shooting behind a business. Officers spoke with two men unloading scrap from a trailer, who denied shooting and there was no evidence of anyone shooting.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. Officers made contact with the guardian of the home and verified the well-being of both female juveniles. The father advised that he was working with his job to make sure the children had an adult with them at all times. He is currently on bereavement leave from work and will have a proper schedule figured out by the end of his time off.

— Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an incident in the 100 block of West State Street at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday. Officers transported the person in question to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers spoke with a person in the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday regarding an unwanted letter from a person known to her. Officers spoke with them, and she was provided with the options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Southeast Boulevard at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday for a re report of theft. The caller advised that someone unknown to her had opened her package that had been delivered to her and taken out one of the shirts without her knowledge or permission. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.

— The school resource officer was advised by the administration at Southeast Elementary of an issue at a residence in the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:27 p.m. Tuesday. The officer went to the residence, but nobody answered the door even though there were people inside. The officer advised the administration of their findings and to call later for a wellness check.

— Officers on patrol in the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday observed a truck owned by a wanted person. The man, Christopher Brink, 44, Salem, pulled into his residence and was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. K-9 Chaz was deployed and indicated to the presence of narcotic odor and contraband was recovered. Brink was transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 1:21 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the person in question had made some concerning statements about harming themselves. The person did admit to making the statements and they were voluntarily transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Boardman by EMT.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Perry Street at 7:29 a.m. Thursday for a reported burglary. Officers were advised that an unknown person had broken into the garage, damaging the door and fled when they saw another person inside the garage. Photographs were obtained and the matter is under investigation.

Perry Township

— Officers on patrol in the area of Crybaby Bridge at 1:07 a.m. Monday located multiple signs dumped over the gate. Officers are investigating the incident.

— Officers were advised by Salem dispatch of multiple calls regarding a train on fire near the industrial park. The train was unable to stop until it had entered the city limits. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Cunningham Road to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers assisted a Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputy in serving a protection order in the 700 block of Cunningham Road at 10:39 p.m. Dec. 6. Officers stood by while the person grabbed their belongings.

— Officers responded to a business in the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road at 8:42 p.m. Dec. 6 for a report of two suspicious vehicles. The vehicles in question were gone prior to officers’ arrival.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone in the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 9:55 p.m. Dec. 5 for a report of telephone harassment. Officers advised them to block the person on social media and not accept any messages for them.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pidgeon Road at 8:44 p.m. Dec. 5 for a report of two reckless operators in the parking lot. The vehicles were gone prior to officers’ arrival.

— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue at 11:04 p.m. Wednesday for a reported car accident with injuries. A vehicle driven southbound by Haylee Brady, 24, Struthers, was unable to stop for a vehicle making a turn due to weather conditions and avoided striking the other vehicle, lost control, and crashed into the ditch on the east side of North Lincoln Avenue. Brady and her passenger, Trevaun Allen, 28, Youngstown, were transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT for suspected minor injuries.

— Officers responded to a construction site on Butcher Road at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers found contractors still working.
