Sheriff’s Office
— A man in the 25000 block of Quaker Church Road, West Township, reported at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday that his neighbor’s outside lights on their residence were shining into his residence and were too bright. He was advised to contact an attorney.
— Deputies were dispatched at 6:48 p.m. Tuesday to State Line Road, Middleton Township, for a domestic dispute. A refusal was signed.
— A deputy found property in the parking lot of the BP gas station on state Route 154 in Lisbon at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The property was turned over to the owner.
Lisbon
— Officers responded to an open 911 line on Sunset Drive at 8:47 a.m. on Dec. 4.
— Officers responded at 3:50 a.m. to East Pine on Dec. 4 to a report of a female inside a residence she was evicted from. Officers made contact with the subject who was able to provide an ID that listed the above address as her place of residence. Officers cleared without further incident.
— Officers responded at 1:11 p.m. on Dec. 3 to East Pine Street to help North Star with an unresponsive male. The man was transported to the Salem hospital.
— Officers received a call from the daughter of a village woman at 6:18 p.m. on Dec. 3 to report that her deceased mother’s body was cremated without permission. The caller advised she lived in Arizona and that her mother’s niece only had medical power of attorney but “somehow” was able to have the body taken to a funeral home and cremated and later held a service at the family farm. The caller said her mother’s wishes were to have her body donated to science. She also advised that the nursing home where her mother resided turned over her personal belongings to the niece and not the legal next of kin. The caller said she wants her mother’s purse, wallet, any cash and jewelry taken by the niece returned. Officers made contact with the niece who stated any money was spent and she would mail the wallet to the daughter. She denied being in possession of jewelry. Officers advised the caller that it was a civil matter since she had not seen her mother in a year and half and thus had no way of knowing how much money, if any, was in the wallet.
— Officers spoke to a village man at 3:56 p.m. Dec. 2 who stated that he had purchased a firearm online and had paid for it. He had not received the firearm yet and was concerned. He stated that he had already spoken to his credit card company and PayPal. He advised he purchased a Browning Citori Pro Trap 12 Gauge for $1736.60. He had sent the money through PayPal to the seller, who had listed the firearm on Gunbroker.com. The seller’s name, address, and account were found to be fraudulent and the account that listed the gun had been deleted. The man was advised that it was a scam and he would need to let his bank know.
— Officers responded to Circle K for a welfare check on a female in a vehicle at 7:47 p.m. on Dec. 2
— Officers responded to a disabled vehicle on South Lincoln at 1:41 a.m. on Dec. 1. Officers pushed the vehicle approximately 100 yards down an alley to the registered owner’s residence.
— Officers observed the gate open at the C.A.R.T.S. at 1:06 a.m. on Nov. 30. Everything at the scene was secured.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:17 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that there were two people in the parking lot and one was crouched down and possibly injured. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the people in question.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Franklin Avenue and Aetna Street at 11:45 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Franklin Avenue. Officers spoke with the driver, Loghen Ward, 23, whose license was suspended. Loghen was issued a citation, and the vehicle was towed by Sinsley’s Towing.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Ohio Avenue at 11:09 p.m. Monday for a report of a woman with an active warrant out of the Canton Police Department. The warrant was confirmed and Canton officers advised they wanted officers to take the woman into custody. The woman, Cathy Mayle, 70, was taken into custody and transported to the police department for processing and then to Alliance where she was transferred to the custody of a Canton officer.
— Officers on patrol in the area of West Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue at 10:13 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle being driven by a man with a suspended driver’s license. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on West Wilson Street. Officers spoke with the driver, Robert Fuson Jr., 47, Salem, issuing a citation for driving under suspension and the vehicle was driven away by a valid driver.
— Officers on patrol in the 200 block of West Pershing Street at 8:52 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle with no lighted headlights. The vehicle made a left turn onto West Pershing Street and officers conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle ultimately coming to a stop in the 200 block of West Pershing Street. Officers spoke with the driver Anna Mayle, Salem, conducting field sobriety testing and taking her into custody and transporting her to the Lisbon Ohio State Highway Patrol post for additional testing, and then to the police department for processing. Mayle was cited for OVI and the headlight violation.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 6:27 p.m. Monday for a reported 911 hang-up call regarding the juvenile feeling unsafe. The caller suffers from autism and called 911 again advising he did not want to stay there any longer. After acknowledging that he had no other choice but to stay at home. The caller agreed to get ready for bed. Officers advised they would do frequent patrols in the area.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 5 p.m. Monday for a report of a child left in a motor vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and found there was an adult person in the rear of the vehicle watching the child. The caller could not see the adult in the vehicle due to the tint.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of South Union Avenue at 4:53 p.m. Monday for a reported dispute. A resolution was reached for the evening and officers cleared without incident.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Fourth Street at 3:51 p.m. Monday for a report of theft. The caller has not decided if they want to pursue criminal charges, and officers are awaiting their decision.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Lincon Avenue at 11:29 a.m. Monday for a reported assault. The caller advised that she could hear a man yelling but left prior to officers’ arrival. Officers located the man in question in the area of East Fifth Street and East School Street while speaking with the man who advised he’d gotten into a verbal argument with his ex-girlfriend at her residence. The man, Chad Fowler, 39, Salem, was transported to the residence while officers spoke with the female half. The woman advised that Fowler was at her residence, and they got into an argument that turned physical. The woman advised that Fowler took her to the ground and strangled her during the altercation. The woman did have visible marks to her neck area and the man was taken into custody and directly transported to the Columbiana County Jail. Officers also explained the protection order process.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:08 a.m. Monday for a scam report. The caller advised his perks from his advantage card were used without his knowledge. The caller advised that he spoke with Giant Eagle and the perks were reimbursed and he was issued a new card.
— Officers were in the area of the 400 block of West State Street at 7:34 a.m. Monday delivering Secret Santa money when a medical issue occurred. First responders were contacted, and the woman was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for attention and three juveniles at the home were transported to school by officers.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Euclid Street at 11:13 p.m. Sunday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that her daughter snuck her 16-year-old boyfriend into the house, and she wanted him to leave but he refused. Officers went inside to have him leave and he packed his bag and walked downstairs. Officers had them sign a criminal trespass notice due to the caller wanting him trespassed from the property.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 8:15 p.m. Sunday for a reported dispute between an ex-couple that still live together. The parties were advised of their options and officers explained residency.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 4:34 p.m. Sunday to report of a possible sexual assault offense. The officer obtained the necessary information, and the case will be forwarded to the detective division. Investigation is pending.
