— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:06 p.m. Thursday for a report of trespassing. Officers spoke with two people at the apartment who advised the previous tenant, who was their friend, had given them permission to gather whatever property was left in the apartment, which officers verified with the tenant. Officers advised them once the property was gathered, they were to leave.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Liberty Street at 1:15 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a juvenile. Officers were unable to make contact at the residence and were advised by dispatch that the juvenile had been located at the Salem High School.

— Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 11:26 a.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. The manager advised that there was a woman who calls the hotel multiple times, before coming to the hotel and bothering hotels and other guests, and the manager wanted the woman to be criminally trespassed from the property. Officers attempted to contact the woman by phone but have been unable to reach her.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Fair Avenue at 11:15 a.m. Thursday for a report of a dog at large. The humane agent responded to take custody of the dog, and the owner was made aware of this issue.

— Officers spoke with a woman at the police department at 6:41 a.m. Thursday for assistance finding somewhere to stay. Columbiana County Community Action Agency was called, and a case worker responded to help the woman.

— Officers responded to the area of Franklin Avenue and Whinnery Road at 4:01 a.m. Thursday to search the city for a vehicle that Leetonia officers had terminated pursuit of in the area of state Route 344 and South Cunningham Road. Officers searched the south end of the city for the vehicle but were unable to locate it.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 2:55 a.m. Thursday for a 911 hang-up call. The caller had needed to speak to someone regarding medical issues and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Ninth Street at 12:42 a.m. Thursday for a reported domestic where the caller heard the man and woman screaming and then the woman telling the man to stop. Officers spoke with the man who denied being in an argument with a woman and said that he had been arguing with his brother outside. Upon further investigation officers learned that the female half was in the residence and entered the residence to ensure her well-being. Officers found her in the bathroom with a bloody nose; however, both parties were adamant there was no domestic violence, and that the man, Camden Hoover, 19, had thrown a video game controller at the wall and accidentally struck the woman. During the investigation officers found that Hoover had an active warrant for domestic violence out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and he was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East State Street at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a person to be removed. The caller advised that a man was found sleeping in the hallway of an apartment complex. Officers advised the man to move along and that he was criminally trespassed from the property.

— Officers responded to the railroad crossing on West Wilson Street at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday for a report of juveniles near the railroad tracks. Officers spoke with several juveniles who advised they were smashing a chrome book that was already broken. They were advised to clean up the broken chrome book and stay away from the tracks.

— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 6:01 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a person in a motorized wheelchair traveling along the roadway. The caller advised they were very difficult to see, and they were worried they might get struck by a vehicle. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.

— Officers were flagged down in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday by a teenager who had observed an 11-year-old boy on a bicycle carrying a rifle. The teenager knew the boy from school and had initiated contact with him out of fear for both his and the boy’s safety. The juvenile advised that he had traded with a friend for the rifle which was observed to be an air rifle and he was taking it home. Officer advised the juvenile that riding a bicycle around while carrying a rifle that appeared to be a real gun could induce panic. The juvenile was advised that he could respond to the police department with a parent to pick up the air rifle at a later time. An adult family member of the juvenile was driving by, stopping briefly, and was advised of the same.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Fourth Street at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised that their son had been hacked through Instagram and wanted to know their options. Officers advised them to close the account and report the hack to Instagram.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:28 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised he received two messages about a property he has for rent they saw on Facebook Marketplace. The caller advised he does not use Facebook Marketplace and had checked it but could not locate the property.

— Officers checked on a woman sitting in the backseat of a vehicle in the 2700 block of East State Street at 12:53 p.m. Wednesday. The woman advised that she was sleeping until her partner got off work in the store.

— Officers responded to an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday for a reported handicap parking violation. The manager advised that the driver of the vehicle which did not have a handicap plate nor placard, had parked in the spot last night, and been warned multiple times by management not to park there in the past. That day the manager had made several attempts to contact the tenant and have the vehicle moved by phone, voicemail, and even left a message on the ring doorbell after nobody answered at the apartment, and that a two hour window of opportunity to move the vehicle was being afforded after which the vehicle would be towed, 45 minutes of which had already elapsed. Officers documented the violation with photographs and placed a parking ticket under the driver’s side windshield wiper.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Seventh Street at 11:03 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised he had gone to a friend’s house for lunch, but nobody answered the door and his friend wasn’t answering his phone. Officers made contact with the resident who advised he was taking a nap and didn’t hear the door or his phone.
