Salem
–Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a domestic dispute with no violence. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to separate for the night.
–Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 12 a.m. Wednesday for a report of threats. Officers found a male juvenile had threatened multiple people, and after speaking with all parties involved officers placed the juvenile into custody for menacing and transported him to the police department for processing. Once necessary paperwork was completed the juvenile was released to a parent.
–Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 10:08 p.m. Tuesday for a report of menacing. The caller advised a person who had threatened to come to the business with a firearm and “shoot up” the establishment. Officers were advised that the person was jealous that males at the business were text messaging his girlfriend despite her also being an employee and their coworker. Officers gathered the necessary information to follow up with the person in regard to the issue.
–Officers responded to the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:31 p.m. Tuesday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised a tenant who lives in the same duplex was purposely slamming objects to cause annoyance, and that this was an ongoing issue. The officers spoke with the other party involved, advising them to remain separated for the remainder of the evening and to contact the landlord during the day about the issues.
–Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a vehicle was parked in a no parking area. Officers were able to contact the driver and the vehicle was moved. –Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest. The person in question was taken into custody and transported to the police department where an undercover agent took over the incident.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of Woodland Avenue at 3:54 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Perry Township Department. Officers spoke with a man and woman who allegedly made threats to the Humane Officer about burning down the building. The individuals denied making the threats and said they were just upset that the Humane Officer took their daughter’s dog. Officers advised them of the complaint and that a Perry Township Officer would be getting in touch with them.
–Officers responded to a business in the 900 block of East State Street at 3:19 p.m. Tuesday for reported drive off. Officers were advised a vehicle had pumped $32.99 before fleeing westbound on East State Street. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
–The school resource officer was advised of a fight that had occurred in the junior high section of the building. All three students were already separated in the office and it was found that two 8th graders had jumped a 9th grader over an alleged rumor and six teachers had been required to break up the fight as the two 8th graders, whose names were not listed, continued to attack the other student even while teacher attempted to pull them off of him. They were arrested for assault and transported to the police department for processing and released to their parents at the advisement of the Columbiana County Juvenile Court.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of West Seventh Street at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer report. The caller had questions about filling a restraining order and the proper process. Officers provided the caller with the necessary information.
–Officers on patrol in the 2500 block of East State Street at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday for a conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the stop the driver, Barbara Anderson, 47, Salem, was put through standard field sobriety testing due to suspicion of impairment, after which Anderson was taken into custody for OVI, and transported to the police department for further testing. After testing Anderson was cited for OVI and marked lanes and transported to her residence. Additional charges are pending lab results.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 5:28 p.m. Monday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with the victim who was visibly bleeding from the ear and had blood down the right side of his neck and shirt. The victim advised that the other party had been at his residence and was asked to leave due to him yelling at a woman there, and that the man then struck him several times from behind before leaving the area. The victim was offered medical attention was he declined, and photos were taken of the injury for documentation. The victim advised they would go to the hospital on their own and that they wanted to pursue the matter.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Seventh Street at 4:50 p.m. Monday for a report of a dog at large. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the dogs.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 4:35 p.m. Monday for a reported gas drive off. Officers were advised that a person pumped gas then left without paying. While officers were checking the area for the vehicle, they were advised that the person returned and paid for the gas.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Penn Avenue at 2:50 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised a man was requesting to use their business phone to call for a ride. The man departed before officers arrived, and the caller advised that he did not cause any problems and just needed a ride.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Ohio Avenue at 2:13 p.m. Monday for speak with officer report. When officers arrived, they found there was a language barrier, and with the assistance of a translator it was determined that the caller was being scammed, and that the scammer was requesting several different gift cards as a form of payment. Officers advised them to block the number and get a new phone number.
— Officers spoke with a woman at the police department at 12:34 p.m. Monday about a man making threats to her grandson. The woman and her grandson advised officers that a man known to them threatened to harm him via text messages. Officers observed the messages, finding the grandson threatened physical harm to the other male first. Officers advised the grandson to cease all contact with the other person.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 11:41 a.m. Monday regarding an incident that occurred on Sunday. The woman advised that a man in a light blue sedan had pulled up to her vehicle and asked her to get in his vehicle, and that she would like what was inside. The woman did not provide a registration number, and officers advised an extra patrol of the area would be conducted, and that should she see the vehicle in the area again to call police.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Stewart Avenue at 8:08 a.m. Monday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that there was a physical altercation that morning between her and her son, who had already left for school. The matter is under investigation.
Perry Township
–Officers on patrol in the 500 block of Snyder Road at 11:26 p.m. Tuesday located a large sports net in the middle of the roadway. Officers were able to remove the debris from the roadway.
–Officers responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 and North Lincoln Avenue at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a reckless driver. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 5 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic altercation. Officers learned that a verbal altercation had occurred at the residence, but the other party had left the residence prior to officer’s arrival. Officers advised the caller of their options for a protection order.
–Officers responded to the Humane Society at 4:14 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a man threatening to burn the building down. Officers found that a man whose dog was recently seized due to poor living conditions had made threats about burning the building down. Officers gathered statements from employees and attempted to make contact with the man at his residence but were unable to do so. Charges will be filed pending an investigation.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday for a reported verbal dispute. Officers found the male half packing his belongings to leave, and the caller advised everything was verbal and the relationship was over. Officers stood by until the male half’s belongings were out of the apartment.
–Officers responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 near North Lincoln Avenue at 9:39 p.m. Monday for a report of a reckless driver. While officers were enroute they were advised the vehicle was inside the city and officers were unable to locate them.
–Officers responded to Blossom Nursing Home at 1:54 p.m. Sunday for a report of a former resident that staff wanted removed from the property. Officers spoke to LeRene Hanson, 69, who was criminally trespassed from the property.
–Officers responded to the 1400 block of Elberon Avenue at 12:35 p.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious person inside a residence. The homeowner advised that an unknown man was in her house possibly attempting to deliver a pizza. The homeowner advised nothing of value was missing and the person caused no physical harm.
–Adam Sneddon, 19, Leetonia, was cited for improper backing after his vehicle on Georgetown Road reversed into a vehicle driven by Steven Kuttler, 48, Salem, when a Semi attempted to turn onto Georgetown Road.
East Liverpool
– Officers were dispatched to Ravine Street on Oct. 8 at 6:12 p.m. for possible shots fired from there or St. Clair Avenue. Officers checked the area and spoke with some people who said the shots sounded more like they came from Claiborne Street. Officers checked there as well but found nothing out of the ordinary.
– Officers were advised of possible drug activity on College Street on Oct. 8 at 1:22 a.m. Officers checked the area but found nothing suspicious.
– Officers responded on Oct. 8 at 12:22 a.m. to a burglary alarm at Unimart, but found the business to be closed and secure. A key holder responded and reset the alarm.
– Officers responded to reports of a female standing in the parking lot in front of Fawcett Apartments screaming that someone was trying to harm her on Oct. 8 at 12:32 a.m. They located the female who has ongoing mental hygiene issues who told them she could hear voices in the bushes threatening her and requested officers check her apartments. Officers checked and found nothing. The female did not want to go to hospital.
– Officers responded on Oct. 8 at 6:20 a.m. to a parking complaint in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. The caller said the neighbor had parked in the alley causing her not to be able to get out. Officers discovered the caller was able to get out of the alley.
– An officer spoke by phone on Oct. 8 at 1:34 p.m. to a male who said he wanted to file a report. The male said he was approached by a person who accused him of putting his hands on their child, and he was out of the town when the child said this happened and now the male is harassing him. He was advised on how to obtain a protection order.
– A female caller reported gun shots near the 1100 block of Ohio Avenue on Oct. 8 at 7:22 a.m. An officer patrolling the area also checked the riverbank and found nothing.
– An officer responded to the Peach Alley for a noise complaint of loud music coming from a vehicle on Oct. 8 at 12:44 a.m. The officer located the vehicle which was empty and there was no loud music.
– Officers responded on Oct. 8 at 2:01 p.m. to the 300 block of Blakely Street for a caller who said he owns the house and was attempting to speak to the tenant. When the owner arrived, the door was open and there was a foul smell coming from inside. Officers arrived and observed dead flies around the window and noticed the odor. The officers checked the house and noted there was minimal furniture but no one inside and advised the owner.
– Officers received a request from a male caller on Oct. 8 at 11:47 p.m. asking them to be on the lookout for his wife who he said was intoxicated and suffers from depression. At 1:33 a.m., the caller called back and said she had returned home and was fine.
– A nursing supervisor from the emergency department at East Liverpool City Hospital called and said she wanted to report a possible hacking attempt logged and that they were contacting their I.T. department.
– Officers responded to an alarm at Kent State University on Oct. 8 at 9:07 a.m. All entrances were checked and appeared secure.
–Officers were dispatched on Oct. 7 at 2;19 p.m., to River Road for a female act erratically. The female told officers she was meeting someone, and she was just waiting. Officers ran the female through field sobriety and found her not to be impaired.
–Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 4th Street on Oct. 7 at 12:20 p.m., for a custody dispute. With no court papers, officers could not prevent the mother from taking her daughter.
–Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Market Street on Oct 7 at 11:42 p.m., for a report of juveniles messing with parked cars. Officers checked the area but did not locate any juveniles.
–Officers were dispatched to Giant Eagle on Bradshaw Avenue on Oct. 7 at 11:36 a.m., for a subject attempting to use a counterfeit bill. Officers collected the fake money but were unable to identify the suspect.
–Officers responded to the 700 block of Bradshaw Avenue for someone yelling. The caller reported they heard someone shout, “just shoot me” and then what they believed to be possible gunshots. The area was checked but nothing was found.
–While on patrol on Oct. 7 at 3:25 a.m., an officer observed seeing a male at Heights Manor on Ambrose Avenue that the owners requested be served with a trespass notice due to previous issues with him there. The officer filled out a trespass notice and served it to the male .
St. Clair Township
– Officers responded to Walmart on Nov. 13 at 8:13 p.m. for a customer who threatened an employee. The male left the store before officers arrived.
– A female came to the police station on Nov. 13 at 5:58 p.m. to file a fraud report. No additional information was available.
– An officer on patrol on Nov. 17 at 10:17 p.m. conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a plate registered to a Jennifer Whaley, 43, address not provided, who had a warrant through Columbiana County. Whaley was in the passenger seat of the vehicle. After confirming the warrant, the officer placed Whaley in custody.
– An officer responded to the Walmart parking lot on Nov. 17 at 4:53 p.m. for a possible assault. The offender had left the parking lot before the officer arrived. The officer spoke to the victim who said the incident started in the parking lot as he and his girlfriend were driving into the lot while a car was stopping in the middle of the road and doing burnouts and cutting the victim off in each parking aisle they tried to go down. When they parked and got out of the car the offender hit him.
– A female came to the police station on Nov. 18 at 5:03 p.m. to speak to officers regarding her soon-to-be ex-husband being at her house. The female said there is a protection order against him. The protection order was found to be dismissed on Nov. 9.
