County Sheriff
— An open door was reported at 8:07 p.m. Saturday at a vacant residence on Randel Road, Hanover Township. A deputy checked the inside of the residence, but found no one inside. There was no forced entry and the door was secured.
— A man on Crestview Road in Fairfield Township reported at 12:11 a.m. Saturday that he thought he saw several people on his camera. Deputies were unable to locate anyone on the property or camera.
— A disturbance was reported at 9:20 p.m. Friday to Kibler Road, Unity Township, for a disturbance. The homeowner said their animals got loose, but they had them all back in their pens.
— A disturbance was reported at 7:41 p.m. Friday on state Route 170, Middleton Township, but the homeowner said everything was fine.
— A woman on Glenn Road, Madison Township, reported at 4:22 p.m. Friday that her husband told her she is not to have anyone on the property. She was told that’s a civil matter.
— A deputy was dispatched at 10:55 p.m. Thursday to the Greenway bike trail at St. Jacob Logtown Road, Center Township, for a wheelchair on it. The deputy checked the area, but was unable to find it.
— A state Route 45, Salem Township, man reported at 7:43 p.m. Thursday that he owns a residence on Stocking Street, Washingtonville, and the renter was removing property from inside the residence that belongs to the man. He was told to evict the renter, then take him to civil court for any property that’s missing or damaged.
— A medical call was reported at 6:51 p.m. Thursday on Rose Drive, Center Township, but deputies spoke with all people there and were told there was no problem.
— A man on Raley Road, Elkrun Township, reported at 3:52 p.m. Thursday that he was at Ace Hardware in Fairfield Township when his ex-brother-in-law started a verbal altercation with him.
— A man reported at 3:24 p.m. Thursday that he owns property on Clarks Mill Road, Washington Township, and the neighbor is trespassing on the property claiming there’s a right of way. He was told to contact an attorney.
Columbiana
— Officers responded at 2:15 p.m. to Lisbon Street to a medical call of a man being trapped under a truck on July 24.
— Officers responded at 5:47 p.m. to the American Legion parking lot to a disturbance between two males on July 24.
— Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a motorcycle for failing to display registration at 9:29 p.m. on Tuesday. The motorcycle failed to comply and took off at a high rate of speed north on state Route 7. Officers terminated the pursuit near Garfield Road when the motorcycle was no longer in sight.
— Willie Oliver, 45, Hubbard, was cited for driving under suspension during a traffic stop in the R&L parking lot at 5:39 p.m. Wednesday.
— Officers took a report at 1 p.m. at the station on Friday for unemployment fraud.
— Officers took a report at 2:10 p.m. on Friday at the station of identity theft.
— Officers spoke to a complainant at 4 pm. on Friday at the station concerning a civil matter. The complainant was advised of their options.
— Jeffrey Mellott, 35, Salem, was arrested on an active warrant during a traffic stop on state Route 14 at Arby’s at 6:27 p.m. on Friday. Mellott was later transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— An officer attempted to perform a traffic stop at 7:42 p.m. on Friday with a motorcycle on state Route 46 when the driver fled. For public safety, the pursuit was terminated. An investigation is ongoing.
Lisbon
— Officers were called at 9:43 p.m. Saturday to Fleming House, Rose Drive, for a suspicious person knocking on windows, but found no one.
— A passerby reported hearing gunshots near the fairgrounds off of Saltwell Road at 7:45 p.m. Saturday. Nothing was found.
— A deputy met Leetonia police at the entrance to the fairgrounds at 3:18 p.m. Saturday to assist when they needed to adjust the handcuffs on a male they were transporting.
— Police responded at 1:18 p.m. Saturday to a residence on state Route 517 for narcotics located by a man cleaning after another person had been kicked out a week and a half ago. A pill bottle with residue had fallen out of the person’s shirt. The man turned over the pill bottle, which contained what appeared to be crack cocaine. The suspected narcotics were marked for destruction.
— An officer responded to Saltwell Road at 9:35 a.m. Saturday for a welfare check after a caller reported an older man driving a white pickup was driving slow and then pulled over with his four-ways on and looked confused. The vehicle was not found.
— Residents on Cherry Street reported at 9:04 p.m. Thursday that they’ve been getting harassed by a man. One of the residents said he just won custody of his child and he’s been getting harassed by the man, who is the boyfriend of the mother. He was told to stop responding and go to the courts for telecommunications harassment if the man doesn’t stop. Screenshots of what he’s been sending were being provided to police. The officer planned to contact him and tell him to stop or charges will be filed.
