— A possible neighbor dispute was reported at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday in the 10000 block of Bayard Road, West Township.
— A woman on state Route 154, Middleton Township reported at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday that a man struck her with a blunt object across the right side of her face during a domestic. He left the residence before deputies arrived.
— Suspicious activity was reported at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday on Mountz Road, Knox Township, where a vehicle was stopped on the road for a long period of time. When approached, the vehicle drove away.
— A deputy responded at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday to the 11000 block of Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township for a vehicle parked partially on the road. A deputy spoke to the owner and learned the vehicle ran out of fuel. The deputy assisted the owner in moving the vehicle to a safe location.
— A possible residential panic alarm drop was reported at 5 p.m. Monday in the 7000 block of state Route 45, Center Township. The homeowner said it was accidental.
— Deputies at 2:29 a.m. Monday assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the Guilford Lake State Park Campground off of Clewell Road where a female camper was complaining about the people at another site being too loud, drinking alcohol and having a pitbull. Deputies made contact and the campers were cooperative. No alcohol was found on the site. All parties were told to stay quiet for the night and stay away from one another. The female caller was told there was no rule or law against having a dog at the campground unless it was aggressive or running at large.
— Police responded to a Middle Beaver Road, Elkrun Township property for a 911 call. The caller was intoxicated and could not advise why they were calling. The caller was warned about calling 911 for a non-emergency.
— A welfare check was requested at 11:34 p.m. Friday on Old Lincoln Highway, Madison Township. The resident said they were fine and just wanted to go to bed. They refused medical assistance.
Leetonia
–Officers responded to the 300 block of Pearl Street at 7:51 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised they had not been able to contact the person in question for over an hour-and-a half and knew of domestic violence in the past between her and the father of her child and was concerned. Officers spoke with the woman and man who advised they had just arrived home from the store and the woman had left her phone at home and had no idea why someone would make such a report.
–Officers responded to the intersection of Leetonia Road and Ridge Street at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a man slumped over in his wheelchair. Officers found the man walking home on Ridge Street and he was fine.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of Walnut Street at 8:10 p.m. Monday for a child custody dispute. The caller advised that her ex was delaying the child drop off with their daughter and being rude to her. Officers spoke with the father who advised he wasn’t keeping the child from her, just that the child was crying because she didn’t want to go. The caller left with the child without incident.
–Officers responded to the 300 block of Ridge Street at 5:47 p.m. Sunday for a report of animal abuse. Officers checked on the dogs, observing no visible signs of trauma to the dogs, and that both appeared to be healthy. The owner advised his neighbor had called and that they were having a disagreement. Officers spoke with the caller who showed officers a photo of the owner dragging his dog on the leash, and officers advised him that he checked on the dogs, and they appeared to be OK. The caller was also advised to contact the humane society or dog warden if he wanted any further investigation done regarding the dogs. Officers advised both to attempt to remain civil.
–Officers responded to the 100 block of Chestnut Street at 4:38 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic altercation. Officers observed the female party to be sitting on her back porch with an open alcoholic drink and a baseball bat laying on top of a backpack approximately six feet away, and the male half sitting in his vehicle. Officers found the altercation started due to the pair’s child being brought home early from his visitation by the male half. The disagreement became heated, and the female half approached the male half holding the baseball bat and threatening to strike him and began to scream at him through his open car door and allegedly pushed and threatened to strike him with the bat but never did. The female half admitted to having the bat but denied striking him. The woman also alleged that while at the car the male half pushed against her car and at one point kicked her away from his open door, knocking off her sunglasses. Neither party had any visible signs of injury or trauma, and both advised they did not want to pursue charges at that time. Officers advised them a report would be on file if they wanted to speak with a prosecutor about possible charges later to contact the police department. Both parties were also advised to avoid further incidents like those to get a court ordered visitation schedule.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of Columbia Street at 9:37 p.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller advised a truck had pulled into his backyard and parked by his small trailer before leaving a few moments later without getting out of the vehicle. The caller advised he was unable to see a plate number.
–Officers responded to the first block of Chestnut Street at 9:02 p.m. Friday for a report of a dog at large. Officers observed a dog tied on a chain barking with the owner standing nearby inside the residence with the door open. The owner advised she was just getting ready to take the dog back inside and that she has an ongoing issue with her neighbor over petty things. Officers advised her to make sure her dog was tied up or on a leash when outside at all times, and the excessive barking needs to be handled.
–Officers responded to a residence in the first block of High Street at3:27 p.m. Friday for a report of a juvenile at the residence being unruly and off his medication. The caller advised her son was screaming and being disrespectful and had threatened his sister the night prior. Neither the juvenile nor the mother could tell officers what happened to the juvenile’s medication. Officers advised that if they had to return to the residence that night the juvenile would either be pink-slipped or transported to the Tobin Center.
–Officers responded to the 300 block of Columbia Street at 12:47 p.m. Friday for a report of a juvenile stung by a bee. Officers evaluated the juvenile and relayed information to EMS, monitoring the juvenile for any breathing issues until EMS arrived and transported the juvenile to Akron Children’s hospital Boardman.
–Officers responded to a business in the 600 block of Cherry Fork Road at 8:44 a.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Officers ran the vehicle through dispatch, finding it had been reported stolen from Columbiana the previous night. Officers stood by until Columbiana officers recovered the vehicle.
–Officers on patrol in the 200 block of West Main Street at 3:50 p.m. observed a man fall off the porch steps of a business and onto the sidewalk. The man advised he was drunk and trying to get into his home. Officers assisted the man up and were able to safely get him into his building.
— Officers spoke to a man by phone at 1:09 p.m. July 17 for a report of fraud. The caller advised he’d received a letter from a debt collector regarding a defaulted loan taken out in his name from Jefferson Capital. The caller claimed his mother has used his social security number several times to obtain credit accounts in his name. Officers advised the man to dispute the charges on his credit report as well as call any credit card companies that he’s aware of his mom having opened in his name and close the accounts so she could no longer access them. The caller was unsure if he wanted to pursue charges and was advised that if he chose to do so he would need to contact the St. Clair Township Police Department to do so as his mother lives in that jurisdiction.
St. Clair Township
–An officer observed Cagney Springer, (age, address not provided) who was known to have a suspended license, driving on Y&O Road on June 25 at 7:47 p.m. A conducte traffic stop confirmed an active suspension. Springer was issued a citation for a non-compliance suspension and a warning for fictitious plates. He was advised he would have to get proper registration before getting the vehicle out of impound.
–An officer responded to a private property crash at Brusters Ice Cream on June 25 at 9:44 p.m.
–An officer on June 25 at 11:04 a.m., stopped a vehicle on Dresden Avenue due to the plates not matching the vehicle and being expired. The passenger in the vehicle identified as Jason Russell, 49, (address not provided) was found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol metal tube with a crystal substance inside which he said was meth and a rolled-up dollar bill which he admitted to using for snorting the meth. Russell was transported to the police department where he was given a summons for drug paraphernalia and cited for an open container in a motor vehicle. Suspected drugs will be sent to BCI for testing. The driver Jeanna Murray was cited for the plates.
–An officer stopped a vehicle on Irish Ridge Road on June 25 at 9:34 a.m., for a defective exhaust and failure to use a turn signal. The driver Joshua Steele (age and address not provided) was issued a court and cited for driving under suspension and loud or defective exhaust. The vehicle was towed by Calcutta Towing.
–The department received a call from a female who wanted to report her fiance’s mother threatening to take their daughter. The female wanted to get the incident documented since this is not the first time it has happened.
–Officers were dispatched to McDonald’s parking lot for a private property accident on June 29 at 2:23 p.m.
–Officers were called to the Walmart parking lot for a report of a male and female arguing on June 30 at 12:44 a.m. The male caller stated that the female had threatened to shoot him, so he left the house with their baby. No physical violence was reported. The male took the baby to his fathers for the evening. He also said he did not want anything to happen to the female.
–An officer was dispatched to the 14000 block of Birch Road by a female who was looking for advice on her to evict her daughter from the home. She also requested to file a stolen item report for a missing jump box.
–Officers responded to the St. Clair Avenue Quality Inn at the request of an employee who wanted to a male removed from a room. Officers made contact with a male and female in the room. As the officers were talking to them, they noticed a plastic baggie with what appeared to be crystal meth in plain view on the sink. The substance was sent to BCI for testing. The two left the business by taxi.
–Officers went to Purtian Avenue and placed Heather Keller, 52, under arrest for a warrant.
–An officer conducted a traffic stop on July 1 at 8:48 a.m., on S.R. 11 for the registered owner having a warrant and a suspended license. The driver, identified as Daniel Raffle, 50, (address not provided) was placed under arrest and charged with being a fugitive from justice.
–An officer was called to Walmart on July 3 at 4:03 p.m. for a male shoplifter. Walmart’s loss prevention officer said they observed James Price fail to scan and pay for 21 items totaling $189.06. Price was arrested, charged with petty theft and given a summons to appear in court.
