County Sheriff

— A resident of U.S. Route 62, Butler Township, reported at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday that a neighbor was shooting at geese towards her property and the road. She wanted a report on file.

— Deputies responded at 4:37 a.m. Tuesday to Black Road for a man having a mental health crisis. The situation was de-escalated and the man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

— A suspicious silver SUV was reported at 10:55 p.m. Monday on Ridge Street, Leetonia, but the vehicle was not found and nothing out of the ordinary was observed.

— A woman on Cherry Valley Road, Salem Township, reported at 9:48 p.m. Monday that her grandson had been staying with her for three to four weeks. On Monday, he got into an argument with his girlfriend and broke some of his stuff in the woman’s room. She said he was gone and she didn’t want him coming back. She was told since he was a resident, deputies couldn’t tell him to leave. No threats had been directed at the woman or the girlfriend. At 10:15 p.m., the grandson was reported back and banging on the door. Upon arrival of deputies, he agreed to leave for the night.

— Deputies were dispatched at 1:24 p.m. Sunday to Megan Place, Center Township, for a 911 open line. Residents said the S.O.S. signal was sent out and they were unsure how to stop it. It was determined to be an accident with nothing out of the ordinary observed.

— An open 911 lines was reported at 6:21 a.m. Sunday in the area of state Route 14, Unity Township, but the source could not be located.

— Deputies were called at 3:34 a.m. July 13 to Homeworth Road, Knox Township for one to be removed. It was determined the person could stay the night with no further issue.

East Palestine

— Officers responded at 4:30 p.m. to Park Avenue on Monday to a report of an unruly juvenile who was threatening self harm. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital by her parents.

— Officers responded at 4:56 p.m. to Highland Avenue on the report that two young boys had walked away from their residence. Both boys were located a short distance at a friend’s home.

— A male came to the station at 2:29 p.m. to report possible child abuse on Monday.

— A woman reported at 9:19 a.m. on Monday that she had paid a contractor for work but the work was not completed and the money was not refunded. The officer contacted the concentrator who advised that he had already purchased the supplies for the project and he would need to return the items to issue a refund. A date was set in which the woman would be refunded.

— A man came to the station at 9:12 a.m. on Monday to report the theft of guns by someone known to him. While at the station, the man messaged the subject who said the guns were located and would be returned.

Leetonia

— Officers spoke to a woman by phone at 6:38 p.m. Sunday for a report of items left behind in an apartment. Officers advised her it was a civil issue and advised her of her options.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 10:58 a.m. Saturday for a report of a potential sewer line leak with a strong foul odor. Officers checked the area, observing a large amount of water coming up out of the ground and a strong odor of sewage. Officers contacted the water department to respond and take the appropriate corrective measures.

— Officers observed two men that appeared to be having a loud argument outside of a local business at 10 p.m. Friday. Officers approached the men, one of whom was known to officers. The men apologized and advised they were not arguing, and that one man was just venting about his current situation.

— Officers responded to the first block of Hazel Street at 8:29 p.m. Friday for a report of a neighbor dispute. The caller advised that a man had come to her residence and onto her property, and that their dog began to come onto the property after being asked multiple times not to. The caller advised she didn’t know the name of the man, but that he lives beside her neighbor. Officers went to the man’s residence but were unable to make contact with the man.

Wellsville

— Officers were dispatched on July 3 at 7:56 p.m. to the 900 block of Wood Street for a possible overdose. A male was transported from the residence by Life Team to the East Liverpool hospital.

— Officers were dispatched on July 6 at 6:47 p.m. to the 800 block of Aten Avenue for a driver who hit a deer while driving on state Route 39. Officers took photos of the damage to the vehicle and advised the driver a report would be made.

— A female came into the police department on July 9 at 3:03 p.m. to report a verbal altercation with a male in the parking lot at Kwik King and when she tried to get into her car to deescalate the situation, the male hit her vehicle window. When she got out of the car the altercation became physical with the male’s mother punching her as well. The female stated she did not want to press charges but did want to do a report in a case another incident were to happen.

Liverpool Township

— Officers responded to a report of theft at a residence in the 2100 block of Boring Lane July 7 at 6:07 p.m. The female resident told the officers that during the period of June 3 through June 10 she was in the hospital and when she got home, she noticed small items missing from her residence. As more time passed, she noticed more items missing.

— Officers responded to an accident with a vehicle in a ditch on Westfield Road on July 8 at 12:09 a.m. James Wilkes, 48, no address listed, was arrested for public intoxication and the vehicle was towed by First Class Towing with a hold placed on it while police investigated the crash and damage to township property.

— An officer was dispatched on July 11 at 3:15 p.m. to a residence in the 2700 block of Lisbon Street for a report of a stolen car. Officers spoke with the female resident who said her grandson had taken her car and left. The grandmother did not want to press charges. Officers spoke with the grandson and advised him of the dangers of his actions and what consequences he could face if he did something like that again.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Whinnery Road at 3:45 p.m. Monday for a report of a dog at large. The humane agent responded to retrieve the dog and returned it to its home.

— Officers responded to the dead end of state Route 45 and U.S. Route 62, at 5:38 a.m. Wednesday to assist Perry Township Officers with a traffic stop. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of South Cunningham Road at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a reckless driver. Officers located the vehicle once in the area, and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, instructing the driver, David Prior, 40, Salem, to turn off the vehicle and exit, which they did. Officers spoke with the driver who submitted to a field sobriety test and officers determined him to be intoxicated. Prior was taken into custody for OVI and transported to the police department for processing prior to release.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an unwanted person. Officers asked them to leave.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Ohio Avenue at 9:22 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile complaint. Officers spoke with the mother who advised her juvenile daughter was acting out and not listen to her. The mother was advised on how to file unruly charges at the juvenile court if the issue persists.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Woodland Avenue at 8:29 p.m. Tuesday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised the while they were taking out the trash in the back, they heard a loud bang in the front of the house, and observed the front metal screen door had been damaged by either a piece of wood for being kicked. Nobody was observed in the area and damage was observed to the door. Officers helped the caller fix the door and documented the damage with photos.

— Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with taking a man into custody in the 100 block of West State Street at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday. The man was taken into custody without issue and transported to the police department for processing. $100 was seized as evidence.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Maple Street at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an ambulance needed. Officers spoke with the person in question, who had cut his wrists with a knife. Medical attention was rendered to the person, and he was transported to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital by the fire department.

— Officers responded to Salem North at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a possible theft. The caller believed cash was taken from her room.

— Officers in the area of Franklin Avenue at 5:16 p.m. observed a pedestrian walk past barriers and onto freshly poured concrete. The person had no business on the closed street and was just out for a walk. Information was taken for the company working on the project for any damages.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 5:06 p.m. Tuesday to assist the fire department. It was advised that a patient from the facility was being admitted to the hospital under doctors’ orders. Officers stood by and she was transported to the hospital for treatment without incident.

— Officers responded to the area of East Pershing Street and Park Avenue at 4:29 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a distraught man. Officers located the man and flagged down the fire department that had been passing by at the time. After speaking with the person, he advised he was not having good thoughts running through his head and he was voluntarily transported to the hospital by the fire department for treatment.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 4:04 p.m. Tuesday for a report of possible theft. The caller advised she had left her cell phone on her truck the other day and driven away without bringing it inside the truck, and that she had tracked her phone to that location. Officers spoke with the homeowner who advised they had found the phone yesterday and were going to put it on social media to locate the owner. The caller’s phone was returned, which had apparently been run over and was now broken.

— Officers responded to the business in the 500 block of East Second Street at 3:37 p.m. Tuesday. It was advised a woman needed transported to the hospital for further treatment and might be combative. The woman was pink slipped by the doctor and transported by the fire department to the hospital.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Sunset Boulevard at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a vehicle driving on the walking path at Waterworth Memorial Park. Officers checked the walking path and did not see any vehicle on the walking path.

— Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley human trafficking Task Force with taking a man into custody in the 100 block of West State Street at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the police department for processing, $100 was seized as evidence.

— Officers spoke with a man by phone at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday for a report of an incident involving a juvenile. Officers obtained all information and spoke to all parties involved.

— Officers spoke with woman at the police department at 11:44 a.m. Tuesday for a report of their juvenile son being harassed by another juvenile male through social media. The caller advised this has been ongoing for almost a year. The matter is under investigation.
