Columbiana

— Officers responded at 12:21 p.m. to Richards Avenue to a call to service for a person having mental health on July 2. The subject was transported to the hospital.

— A female came on station at 5:39 p.m. to report that her purse was stolen on July 3. An investigation is pending.

— While conducting foot patrol, officers discovered a male subject actively using narcotics in a vehicle in Firestone Park at 8:56 p.m. on July 4. Following an investigation, other suspected narcotics were located in the vehicle. Police later cleared the scene with no arrests made. Charges may be pending BCI lab results.

— A female came to the station at 10:43 a.m. on July 5 to report that an unknown person used her information to file for unemployment.

East Palestine

— Officers responded at 10:01 p.m. to West Main Street to a report of a disturbance on Sunday. The matter remains under investigation.

— Officers responded at 9:55 p.m. to a report of assault on East Noyh Avenue on Sunday. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded at 9:52 p.m. to a report of a runaway at West Martin Street on Sunday. Officers located the juvenile at a friend’s house. The parents advised they plan to file charges.

— Officers responded at 6:22 p.m. Sunday to a report of an unlocked door at a residence on East Martin Street.

— Officers responded at 6:17 p.m. to a report of a disturbance between a juvenile and a female subject on Sunday.

— Officers responded at 12:35 p.m. on Sunday to a report of an intoxicated man walking in the street on East Martin Street. Officers gave the subject a ride home.

— Officers responded at 11:42 p.m. on Saturday to a report of a disturbance on Malibu Drive. Both parties denied any physical violence and no charges were filed.

— Officers responded at 8:03 p.m. on Saturday to a littering complaint involving the recycling bins on Walnut Street. The complaint said no recyclables were left in the bin. Officers reported that the items left in the bin were recyclables with the exception of a small amount of greenery which the officer removed.

— Officers responded at 7:26 p.m. on Saturday to a complaint on Wood Street regarding two juveniles playing basketball in the street and the loose basketball damaging a flower bed and solar lights. Officers spoke with the juveniles and advised them to be more careful.

— Officers took a report at 3:55 p.m. on Saturday from a man on Pinetree Circle who believes he was scammed by a contractor.

— Officers responded at 12:29 a.m. to East Main Street on Saturday to a report of a person making threats of self harm. Officers arrived on scene to find the subject had locked themselves in their residence and refused to answer the door. Officers forced entry into the home and the individual was transported to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

— Officers took a report at 10:23 p.m. on Friday of two males fighting on Garfield Avenue.

— Officers responded at 5:14 p.m. on Friday to a menacing complaint on West North Avenue. No charges were filed at that time.

— Officers took a call at 1:51 p.m. regarding a domestic dispute on West Clark Street on Friday.

— Officers took a report at 12:53 p.m. regarding telecommunications harassment from a resident at East Martin Street on Friday.

— Officers took a report at 11:02 a.m. on Friday of bank fraud. The incident is under investigation.

— Officers assisted at 3:18 a.m. the Columbiana Police Department on a traffic stop in the Dairy Queen parking lot on state Route 14 on Friday.

— Officers observed juveniles shooting off bottle rockets at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday in front of a West Clark Street residence. The mother of one of the juveniles was advised of the law concerning fireworks and she reported no more would be let off.

— Officers responded at 8:22 p.m. to Mauliu Drive regarding a report of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Thursday. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded at 7:53 p.m. on Thursday to a report of an injured cat near Pizza Hut on North Market Street on Thursday. The area was searched but no animal was located.

— Officers were advised at 7:35 p.m. of a reckless driver on East North Avenue on Thursday. Officers checked the area but the vehicle was not found.

— Officers responded at 7 p.m. July 5 to a report of a disturbance involving a group of individuals who were yelling at lifeguards and other patrons at the village pool. Officers spoke with the subjects as they left the pool and staff advised that the group was banned from the pool and told not to return.

— Officers responded at 5:58 p.m. to the East Palestine City Park on Wednesday to a report of a stolen bicycle. The complaint later advised he saw another juvenile riding the bike. When officers responded to that area, they determined the bike had just been spray painted as the paint was still wet. The bike was returned to the owner and the matter referred to the juvenile prosecutor’s office.

— Officers responded at 1:53 p.m. on Wednesday to West Main Street in New Waterford to assist the New Waterford Police Department during a domestic violence and assault incident. Two adult males were arrested and transported to county jail.

— Officers accompanied a female at 12:54 p.m. to a residence on West Martin Street for a welfare check on Wednesday. The subject was found to be safe.

— Officers conducted a welfare check at 11:05 a.m. on East Main Street on Wednesday. The subject was found to be safe.

— Officers responded at 11:07 p.m. to the city park for a report of a traffic jam following the fireworks on Tuesday. Officers cleared the traffic.

— A non-village man reported at 11:38 p.m. that his son was bullied at the city park on Tuesday.

— Officers received a report at 11:37 p.m. of unruly juveniles at the city park on Tuesday.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 1:31 a.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the female half at a residence next door to hers, who reported that a physical altercation took place between her and her husband after an argument broke out between the two due to her husband being extremely intoxicated, during which he slammed her head off the ground. Officers observed her to have a knot on the left side of her head, just behind her ear, and she also reported being struck in the face, just under her right eye. Officers spoke with the husband, Brandon Seddon, 31, Salem, who admitted to striking his wife during the argument, and took him into custody for domestic violence. Officers transported Seddon to the police department for processing and later transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to Smith Oil at 12:01 a.m. Monday for a report of someone parked at a gas pump after hours attempting to get gas. The person left prior to the officers’ arrival.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2300 block of East State Street at 11:26 p.m. Sunday to speak with an individual in the parking lot. While speaking with the person officers found him to be intoxicated and calling for a ride. Officers identified the man, Dillon Corfee, 22, Salem, finding him to have an active warrant for his arrest by Boardman police. Corfee was taken into custody and turned over to Boardman police in Columbiana.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 9:21 p.m. Sunday to assist the fire department with a medical call. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2200 block of East State Street at 7:40 p.m. Sunday for a report of a person to be removed. The business advised that a former employee was at the establishment making disorderly comments to customers. Officers spoke with management who wished to have them trespassed from the property. Officers advised the person they were being trespassed from the establishment and was sent on his way.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 6:32 p.m. Sunday for a reported neighbor dispute. It was reported that a dog went over to the neighbor’s yard and defecated, and a verbal dispute had begun as a result. The owner of the dog was advised to have the animal remain in its yard, and all parties were advised to separate.

— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 6:11 p.m. Sunday to inquire about assistance for his father. The man explained he has the power of attorney and feels his father needed to seek medical attention, but he refused. Officers responded to the residence and spoke with the father with the fire department. The man ultimately agreed to go to the Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 5:51 p.m. Sunday for a report of loud music being played. Officers were able to hear the music slightly but did not observe it to be violating the noise ordinance.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West State Street at 3:55 p.m. Sunday for a report of a reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Monroe Street at 12:21 p.m. Sunday for a medical call. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 10:01 a.m. Sunday for a report of a distraught man who wanted to go to the hospital. Officers stood by while EMT spoke with the man. EMT transported the man to the Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 8:57 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers checked on a man who advised someone was taking photos of him and that unknown people are after him. Officers requested the fire department respond to the scene for an evaluation. The man went through the process and signed off on a medical refusal.

— Officers responded to the area of Rose Avenue and East Third Street at 1:47 a.m. Sunday to assist Highway Patrol in attempting to stop a motorcycle that was traveling through the city. As officers arrived on state Route 14 near Egypt Road, troopers advised that the motorcycle had crashed into the guide rail and the driver fled on foot over the hill into the thick brush. Officers stood by while the area was checked by highway patrol and a K-9 unit from Columbiana, but the driver was not located. Officers continued to assist and checked several locations after confirming the name of the driver, which was not listed, and the driver was ultimately located and taken into custody by Goshen Township officers on a warrant with pending charges from highway patrol.

— Officers spoke with a person sitting near the railroad tracks on Mullins Street at 1:42 a.m. Sunday. Officers ensured the person was okay, and the person advised they did not need any assistance.

— Officer assisted the Lisbon Police Department by conducting a breath test for an OVI arrest at 1:39 a.m. Sunday.

— Officers located a bag at the corner of South Avenue and East Perry Street at 12:29 a.m. Sunday that was involved in a theft. Officers returned the bag to its owner.

— Officers responded to the nature trail behind the dog park at 10:44 p.m. Saturday for a medical call. Officers located a man, who sustained a head injury from jumping off a picnic table. The fire department and EMT also responded, and the man was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:47 p.m. Saturday for a report of an unruly juvenile. The caller advised that her 14-year-old daughter refuses to listen to her and that this has been an ongoing issue. The caller was advised of her options for dealing with the situation and officers made contact with the juvenile. She was advised of the state law prohibiting juveniles from being unruly and was instructed to listen to her mother or possible charges could be filed against her by her mother in the juvenile court.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Third Street at 8:14 a.m. Tuesday for several 911 calls that dispatch advised sounded like pocket dials. Officers made contact with a resident, but the phone number did not match. Officers did not locate any issues in the area.

— Officers responded to Centennial Park at 5:37 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised there was a woman slumped over. When officers arrived, the woman was sitting on the public sidewalk on her phone. The woman advised she was okay and didn’t need anything.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Fourth Street at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with a woman who advised everything was fine.

— Officers responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 3:24 a.m. Tuesday for a complaint of someone pounding on the door of the residence. Officers did not locate anyone around the residence, nor did they observe anyone walking anywhere near the area. Officers subsequently parked in the area with the ignition off and did not hear any further disturbance during that time.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 10:25 p.m. Monday for a barking dog complaint. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the dog.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Avenue at 9:49 p.m. Monday to assist a semi driver who was unable to make it through the area due to construction. The driver was escorted out of the city.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:36 p.m. Monday for a report of a syringe located in a yard. The item was recovered and disposed of.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of West Pershing Street at 7:37 p.m. Monday for a warrant check. Officers were advised by the Boardman Police Department a man living at the residence had an active warrant. Officers were able to locate the man, Christian Russell, 40, Salem, and placed him under arrest. Russell was transported to the police department.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 6:49 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. The caller also had a protection order, but officers were unable to confirm if he was served. Officers contacted Mahoning County and advised them of the incident, and the person in question was visually seen earlier that day by officers. The caller was advised of the protection order being placed and to no longer contact the person in question, and to contact Mahoning County regarding questions.

— Officers on patrol observed a person known to have a warrant for their arrest in the 300 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:02 p.m. Monday. Officers stopped and detained the person, John Soldo, 49, Salem, while the warrant was confirmed, and transported him to the police department for processing. Soldo was later transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Cunningham Road at 3:22 p.m. Monday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the source of the call.

— Officers responded to Sugartree Alley at 3:08 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.

— Officers on patrol in the 1900 block of East State Street at 2:08 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle with a known wanted person in the passenger seat. Officers stopped the vehicle, confirming the warrant and taking the passenger Devin Lodge, 21, Sebring, into custody. While checking the driver for warrants and a valid license, K-9 Simon was deployed and indicated to the presence of narcotic odor. Contraband was located in the vehicle and both Lodge and the driver Savanna McKee, 27, Sebring, were charged with drug paraphernalia. McKee was released on scene after being cited, and Lodge was transported to the police department for processing before being transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 11:23 a.m. Monday for an animal complaint. Officers were advised of a canine locked inside a vehicle. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:13 p.m. Sunday for a report of a person running over geese in the parking lot. The manager advised that at approximately 3:14 a.m. that day an employee had returned from break and struck a group of geese lying in the lot. Officers observed a video of the incident and advised that the incident would be referred to the department of wildlife. Officers also observed one goose to be deceased.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 2:47 a.m. Sunday to assist the Salem Police Department in locating the driver of a motorcycle that had crashed earlier that night. Officers were unable to make contact with the man.

— Officers on patrol on Egypt Road at 11:45 p.m. Saturday observed a suspicious vehicle pulled off at Crybaby Bridge, officers spoke with the occupants and they were given a verbal warning for trespassing.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of West State Street at 10:16 p.m. Saturday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke to a man who advised that his daughter had the phone and must have called by accident. Officers spoke to all the children in the house and ensured they were all okay.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Springdale Street for a report of a neighbor yelling profanity. Officers spoke to the individual who had been yelling and advised him that if the yelling continued, he would be charged with disorderly conduct, and he agreed to stop.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 1:33 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man complaining of chest pain. Officers stood by until medical personnel no longer needed them.

— Officers assisted the Salem Police Department with checking on a suspicious vehicle near Suburban Market at 3:14 a.m. Saturday. One passenger was given a ride home and the other left on foot and could not be located.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:16 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man having diabetic issues. Officers along with the fire department and EMS checked the man. The man refused to be taken to the hospital and all units cleared without further incident.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 11:42 p.m. Thursday to assist the Salem Police Department with a possible domestic.

— Officers on patrol in the 800 block of Benton Road at 11:35 p.m. Thursday heard shots behind a residence. Officers spoke with the homeowner and advised them of the noise ordinance.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Maryland Avenue at 6:28p.m. Thursday for a domestic dispute. Officers determined the matter to be a civil complaint only. The female half was trying to gather her belongings to leave, and her boyfriend was yelling at her. It was determined nothing physical had taken place, and officers advised them to keep things civil. The woman said she would be leaving for the night.

— Officer responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 5:52 p.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The caller advised that a trailer jack, trailer frame pieces, part of a metal bench and an exhaust off a ford truck were stolen from his mother’s property. Officers advised the man that a report would be made and to install cameras at the property if possible.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 10:30 p.m. Thursday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke to a man and woman who advised they were having an argument about the woman going to the hospital to seek medical treatment. The man advised officers he wanted her to be seen by a doctor, but she was refusing. Officers asked the woman if she wanted to go to the hospital and she refused. Officers advised the man they could not force her to go if she didn’t want to. The woman left for the night to avoid further arguments.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Devonshire Drive for a neighbor dispute at 8:39 p.m. July 4. The caller advised that his neighbors yelled at him over the fence about his fireworks. Officers spoke with a neighbor who advised the caller had been setting off fireworks, and debris had been landing in her yard. Officers did observe debris from fireworks in the yard as well as on Hearthside Drive. The fire department responded to the scene to check for fire hazards with none being found. The fire department advised the caller of the 150-foot rule for fireworks. Officers advised all parties to cease contact with one another for the night.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 4:59 p.m. July 4 for a report involving people shooting guns. Officers went to the house in question and confirmed the shooting was being done legally and safely, and the caller was advised of the same.

— Officers responded to the area of state Route 14 and Allen Road at 12:58 a.m. July 4 to assist Ohio State Highway Patrol in a vehicle pursuit. Officers were advised the vehicle was continuing north.

— Officers responded to Chestnut Grove at 12:11 a.m. July 3 for a report of a tree down blocking the roadway. Officers were able to clear the roadway.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Egypt Road at 5:56 p.m. July 2 for a report of a tree that fell and took out some phone lines and partially blocked the roadway. Officers contacted the street department who arrived on scene and removed the tree from the roadway.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:37 p.m. July 2 for a report of a man standing outside screaming. Officers made contact with the man who advised that he was arguing on the phone with someone and would be quieter in the future.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Springdale Street at 8:13 p.m. July 1 for a neighbor complaint. The caller advised he was concerned with the neighbor shooting a BB gun toward his house. Officers spoke with the man shooting the BB gun and advised him that he needed to shoot it away from his neighbors’ homes.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Elberon Avenue at 7:27 a.m. July 1 for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that the previous night at around 10:30 p.m. he heard a very loud noise and something hit his house as well as the neighbor’s window shatter across the street. He advised that he could not find anything during that time, but that when he looked again in the morning he found there to be a hole in the siding of his house. Officers went to the house across the street and observed a shattered window and chunks of wood missing from the porch post. After speaking with the man across the street it was determined that he was cleaning a shotgun when he accidentally discharged the firearm. The incident is under investigation.

— Officers received a report of a fraudulent unemployment claim at 2:27 p.m. June 30. Officers found the claim was sent to the caller’s employment at Blossom Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and that the claim was fraudulent and she is currently employed. The caller needed a police report for the human resources department at her employment.
