Police

County Sheriff

— Jim Caserta, Buck Road, Alliance, reported at 2:16 p.m. Wednesday his new Ford F-150 was damaged, possibly while parked at the BP gas station at the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and Homeworth Road on Tuesday. The manager at the station was going to check the store video to see if the damage occurred there.

— Laura Crane, Leetonia Road, Leetonia, reported at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday her husband, Christopher Crane, showed up at the home while she was in the barn doing chores and blocked her exit from the barn. He then allegedly pushed her and threatened to kill her before striking her in the side of the face. She fell to the ground and he left. She already had a protection order against him. Charges of domestic violence and violating a protection order will be issued.

— Earnest Smith, Tomahawk Drive, Negley, reported at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday while he was eating at the Y-Inn, someone stole $840 from his glove box.

Highway Patrol

— Jeffrey J. Hoopes, 59, Bandy Road, Homeworth, was eastbound on Georgetown Road in Butler Township at 7:15 a.m. Monday and hit a deer.

— Michelle L. Flenoury, 43, Kinsman, Ohio, was northbound on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday and hit a deer.

— Gary N. Fugate, 76, Springdale Street, Salem, was southbound on state Route 45 in Salem at 8:30 a.m. Sunday when an object struck the front of his vehicle.

— Adam D. McMichael, 31, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, was southeastbound on Campbell Road in Hanover Township at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday and hit a deer.

— Mark A. Razo, 33, Canfield, was southbound on state Route 45 in Salem Township at 1:24 a.m. Wednesday and went off the right side into a culvert. He was cited for failure to control.

Lisbon

— East Liverpool police called at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday seeking assistance with a combative prisoner being transported to the county jail. The prisoner had broken out the glass out of a pair of glasses and was cutting himself and threatening others in the jail parking lot. Lisbon police assisted in removing the prisoner from the cruiser and remained until an ambulance arrived to transport the person to a local hospital.

— A clerk at the Circle K reported someone tried to steal a Four Loko by pouring the alcoholic energy drink in a Polar Pop cup at the Circle K at 12:44 a.m. Thursday. The person left in a silver Focus before police arrived.

—  Bobby Tinney reported Jay Farrow was harassing people at the Lisbon Laundromat at 10:42 p.m. Wednesday. Police went to Farrow’s apartment on East Lincoln Way and told him leave the laundromat people alone or he would be arrested.

— Jen McCarty, Sherman Street, reported Oct. 11 her sons’ bicycles were stolen from the back yard.

— A caller reported a car door was open at a Maple Street residence and someone was lying down in the seat with the door open at 5:19 p.m. Monday. The car was parked on private property and the person was talking with another person.

— A caller reported there was a dog running loose at the old elections board office at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday. Police found a pit bull in the alley and it began to growl and bark as the officer approached. The county dog warden arrived and opened the door to the apartment for the dog, and it was determined the dog belonged to Chad Brewer.

— Jonathan R. Croft, 38, Cream Ridge Road, Lisbon, was cited for assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of stopped vehicle operated by Terri L. Jenkins, 45, Cannons Mill Road, East Liverpool, on East Lincoln Way at 6:21 p.m. Oct. 13.

Columbiana

— Police stood by at Boardman Steel at 8 a.m. Wednesday while woman retrieved her cell phone that she had reported stolen.

— A man reported at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday the railroad crossing gates were malfunctioning at the Metz Road crossing. Police notified the railroad company of the complaint.

East Liverpool

— An officer from the county Drug Task Force reported Thursday witnessing a drug transaction taking place near Auto Zone and gave a description of the vehicle involved. A city officer stopped the vehicle on state Route 39 just before the Jennings Randolph Bridge with four occupants inside, none of whom was able to provide identification. The driver identified herself as Raven Lewis but couldn’t recall her birthdate or Social Security number. An ID card was found in the passenger side door matching Lewis’ description with the name Ella Lewis, 26, Girard. Passenger Dominque Lucky, no age or address listed, was found to have a small amount of crack cocaine and $25, both of which were seized. Passenger James Tinsley, 36, Youngstown, had an unreported amount of currency, which was also seized. Officers charged Lewis with falsification; Lucky had an outstanding warrant out of Mahoning County and was held on a parole violation; passenger C’Quan C. Cross, 21, Youngstown, and Tinsley were both charged with obstructing official business.

St. Clair Township

— Officers were called Tuesday evening to McCoy Avenue for a female under the influence of drugs, running around half naked through the woods. The found Dianna Stidfole, standing in the roadway, pointing toward the woods, saying her daughter, Justina DeSarro, 26, took off when she knew officers were coming. After a short foot pursuit, an officer apprehended DeSarro and helped zip her coat over her bra as she held her shirt in her hand. He reported having dealt with DeSarro earlier in the evening on Cannons Mill Road in a similar situation, reporting she was still under the influence of some type of drug, with slurred speech and poor balance. She admitted taking two valium pills. DeSarro was charged with disorderly conduct/intoxication.

Salineville

— Police conducted a traffic stop on Church Street around 10:40 p.m. Oct. 14 regarding an equipment violation on a vehicle driven by Tyler Corbisello. A search revealed several items of marijuana paraphernalia and four pills of a suspected prescription medication. Corbisello was cited and other charges are pending.

— Around 9:29 p.m. Saturday, police investigated a report of suspicious activity that took place during the night. A resident’s vehicle was found to have an obscene word written on the side of the vehicle in the dust, and the vehicle’s gas flap was found open. A resident told police that people were heard outside and took off in another vehicle.

— Police conducted a traffic stop around 11:01 p.m. Saturday on Washington Street, and discovered that the passenger, Amy Manning, had a warrant out of the county sheriff’s office. Manning was taken to jail.

— A local resident reported at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday his Husqvarna 450 chainsaw was stolen from his garage. A possible suspect has been identified.

Wellsville

— Police were called at 4:15 p.m. Oct. 13 to an 11th Street residence regarding a fight. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Abadeza Springer of Hammondsville, who said there was a fight inside the home. The other half of the incident, Susan D. Gooding of Newell, W.Va., said Springer had spread rumors about her and when she confronted Springer about it, she became very angry and grabbed a water bottle to hit her with, but didn’t. Gooding stated that Springer picked up a skillet on the stove and hit Gooding in the head. Officers observed Gooding for injuries to her head, but did not see any. Springer stated Gooding was the aggressor by backing Springer up to the stove and yelling at her. Springer acknowledged picking up the skillet, but said it was in self-defense and did not strike Gooding. Both were advised to fill out statements. Gooding submitted hers and stated she had been experiencing headaches since the fight, while Springer did not return a statement. The information will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.

Salem

— Daniel J. Jackson, 34, of 501 Continental Drive, was taken into custody at 1:57 p.m. Thursday on a warrant out of Lake County for failure to appear. Police had gone to the residence to attempt to serve the warrant. After being processed, Jackson was taken to the county jail to await extradition to Lake County.

— A woman in the 500 block of Continental Drive reported at 1:38 p.m. Thursday that she’s been involved in an on-again, off-again relationship with a man who resides with her and on Thursday, he began arguing with her while she was babysitting a 3-year-old, striking her in the left forearm, bicep and shoulder area while she was attempting to get away from him. She left the residence to take the child back home and came to the police department. Information was gathered for the prosecutor’s office to review for possible charges.

–An officer at the scene of an incident on South Lincoln at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday had another incident occur with a vehicle passing by. Officers stopped the vehicle and the juvenile who committed the offense was advised of charges.

— A woman in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 8:39 p.m. Wednesday that someone made a false social media account and was threatening her, claiming to be outside her residence. No one was found.

— Officers at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday checked the length of West State Street for a reckless pickup heading toward Salem on U.S. 62, but did not locate the vehicle.

— An officer and K-9 Simon responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue near the city limits at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday to assist Perry Township Police. K-9 Simon was deployed and indicated to the presence of narcotic odor, with the Perry officer recovering contraband.

— Police responded at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of East Fifth Street for a dispute between a property owner and resident. Officers were advised the dispute was over money owed. Both parties were told it’s civil and officers also told the property owner he can’t harass his tenants and what his rights were. He left and officers made sure everything was OK.

— An officer and K-9 Simon responded to assist Goshen Township Police with a traffic stop on state Route 14 near the city limits at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday. K-9 Simon was deployed and did not indicate to any narcotic odor.

— Pure Pet owner Emily Ellsworth called police at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday for a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Penn Avenue in front of her business since Tuesday. She was concerned the vehicle might be broken down. Officers planned to contact the owner.

— Police were called at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Carole Drive where a moving van delivering a load of furniture to an address struck a street light pole on the north side of the driveway, breaking the pole off at the ground, smashing the light and leaving a downed live wire. The city electrician disconnected the wires and Ohio Edison arrived to remove the pole. The driver was from Florida.

— Michiko Dickey, 83, of South Lincoln Avenue, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle traveling on South Madison Avenue failed to yield and proceeded through the intersection at East Pershing Street, getting struck by a westbound vehicle on Pershing driven by Barbara J. Hendricks, 70, of South Union Avenue. KLG responded after Hendricks indicated neck pain, but she refused treatment.

— An officer was requested at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday to return a call from a male about an incident that allegedly occurred two years ago. Dispatch advised the male said over the phone that two young children known to him were sexually assaulted and that their mother received $2,000 not to report it. When the officer called the male back to inquire about the incident, the male said nothing occurred two years ago and he was wrong to call and report it. He appeared to not be making sense and seemed very confused. The officer spoke with an employee of Children Services about the incident.

— A man whose address was listed as Dayton came to the police station at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday to report something he thought was suspicious during his visit to an auto parts store. He was speaking to a female cashier about parts he needed for a motor vehicle and he said the cashier advised him that her boyfriend was seeking the same parts that the male had previously taken off a vehicle. He thought it was suspicious that the cashier knew the exact parts he had already removed before coming to the store.

— A clerk at Smith Oil on East State Street reported at 1:03 p.m. Wednesday that someone in a white Chevy Blazer pumped $12 worth of gas but forgot to pay for it when paying for other items.

— Police were called at 1 p.m. Wednesday for a suspicious person at Roosevelt Avenue and East Third Street where a woman wearing red pants and pushing a stroller appeared confused. An officer made contact to check her well-being and she said she was ok but had been confused about which direction to walk in order to get home. She said she didn’t need anything and knew the correct direction.

— A bicycle was recovered in the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday located behind Stark Memorial Funeral Home. The fire department transported the bicycle back to the police station.

— A resident in the 500 block of East Sixth Street reported at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday that a black Chevy Cavalier was parked too close to his driveway, making it hard for him to enter or exit. Officers were unable to locate the owner after several attempts and left a parking citation on the windshield.

— Police responded at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of North Madison Avenue for a domestic, finding that an adult son and father had a verbal dispute. The father left before police arrived.

— Lisa Higgins, 21, of Salineville, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her southbound vehicle struck the rear of another southbound vehicle which had stopped for traffic on South Lincoln Avenue at 2:51 p.m. Monday. The other vehicle was driven by Kristina Fusillo, 19, of North Jackson.

Hancock County Sheriff

— Michael “Scooter” Smith, 31, of Newell, faces charges of possession of stolen property, battery on an officer, destruction of property and public intoxication after an incident Wednesday in Newell. Adieana Hensley, 35, of Minerva, Ohio, has been charged with possession of stolen property and public intoxication. Smith and Hensley were found to be in possession of a car reportedly stolen from Washington Street. Witnesses told deputies that Smith also had broken out a window of the vehicle on Glendale Road. Smith also had a warrant for third-degree arson in connection with a Sept. 25 vehicle fire on Grant Street, Newell. The 1999 GMC Yukon Denali was a total loss. Both were taken to jail.

Lisbon

— The fire department responded to an alarm at the Days Inn set off by a smoke detector at 6 a.m. Thursday. All 22 customers were ordered outside, but it turned to be a false alarm.
