WINONA – The Winona Ruritan Club held its annual Steak Fry/Chicken Breast BBQ dinner June 23 at the Salem Saxon Club. The dinner was one of its Ladies Appreciation nights where members invite their wives or significant other to join in continuing the club’s philanthropic endeavors. East Palestine settlement payments to be sent out

EAST PALESTINE (WKBN) — For those impacted by the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, settlement checks for property claims are supposed to be in the mail. This is part of the $600 million settlement agreement by the railroad to resolve class action lawsuits. Anyone living or owning property within 20 miles of the derailment site was eligible to file a claim. Epiq is handling the payments. Giant Eagle becomes part of Kroger in $1.65B deal

Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. announced Wednesday the $1.65 billion acquisition of Giant Eagle stores and its private label ventures. An unknown number of Giant Eagle stores will be dropped from its current roster of 197 to obtain federal regulatory approval, Kroger said in a joint news release. SALEM — Salem will be celebrating the nation’s semiquincenntennial Friday with a full slate of patriotic programming. The celebrations kick off at 10 a.m. with a dedication ceremony for the city’s new 50-year time capsule at the Liberty Center, located at the corner of North Ellsworth Avenue and East State Street.
