LEETONIA — A boil order will be in effect beginning today for water main repairs. A boil order is set to begin at approximately 9 a.m. today as repairs are made to a leaking water main valve, according to an announcement posted to the village’s Facebook page Monday. The order will remain in place until water testing confirms that the water is safe for consumption. Head of scheme that stole millions, including from Salem man, to be sentenced

SALEM — Shreyas Baldevbhai Chaudhary, 25, who is from the Republic of India, will be sentenced at 10 a.m. today in U.S. District Court in Cleveland for his role in a three-person scheme that stole millions of dollars from older adults across the United States, including a 77-year-old Salem man. Prosecutors are recommending that he get about eight to 10 years in prison. They say he was the person who directed the scheme. SALEM — The parks commission approved employee pay raises in its special meeting Aug. 5. Following an executive session for the discussion of personnel matters, the commissioners voted two to one to increase the base wage for the department’s laborer position by 4.5%, and to increase the mechanic position’s wage by 6%, retroactive to July 1.
