LEETONIA — The village of Leetonia will be celebrating the grand opening of the new restrooms at the Wurster Memorial Splash Pad with an evening of family fun Friday. The event promises a full night of free activities for children from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature a large bounce house, music and free food for attendees. Goshen Township receives grant to repave part of Duck Creek Road

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — A portion of Duck Creek Road will be repaved next year thanks to a nearly $200,000 grant. Fiscal Officer Michele Barratt announced that Goshen Township had been selected to receive a $196,090 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) during the board of trustees meeting Tuesday. Salem woman charged with child sex crimes found competent

LISBON — A Salem woman charged with rape and multiple other sex-related acts involving two children over multiple years was declared competent to stand trial. Jan. M. McHenry, 40, North Ellsworth Avenue, will now face a jury trial at 9 a.m. Dec. 8 and a final status hearing at 9 a.m. Nov. 23 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Megan Bickerton. Bickerton recently found McHenry competent based on an evaluation by the Forensic Psychiatric Center of Northeast Ohio which she ordered in April.
