Salem council agrees to place parks renewal levy on November ballot

SALEM — Salem voters will be presented with the question of renewing the parks department’s 1.3-mill recreational levy. The city council voted unanimously Tuesday to place the renewal of the levy on the ballot in both Columbiana and Mahoning counties in the upcoming General Election on Nov. 3. Illinois man caught in sex sting pleads guilty to child porn possession

LISBON — An Illinois man charged for allegedly possessing images of child pornography after being caught in a sex-for-hire sting in 2024 entered a guilty plea Wednesday. Vincent John Bianconi, 36, last known address Chicago Heights, Ill., appeared in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Scott Washam and was supposed to be facing a trial, but instead opted for a plea. The WLC club met on July 28 with leader Mary Jarvis opening the meeting with roll call, the club pledge, and then Barb Q led the group in prayer. Barb Tranter was the best loser for the week and she also wore the officer’s ribbon. The no-no is all potatoes. Linder Servers had 10 pounds off and will receive two weeks dues paid. Next week is the picnic at the home of Sally Workman. Alice Evkstein won the Challenge and Tranter won the 50/50 drawing. Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church on Aug. 3, with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. Chris Plunkett was the best loser and Cheryl Myers was the runner up. They chose no eating after supper and ice cream as the junk foods for the next week. The drawing winners were: 50/50, Becky Andrews; food chart and junk food, Marlene Reynolds; and weight loss, Plunkett. Myers was in the best losers book.
