LISBON — A Lisbon man who pleaded guilty recently to felonious assault, tampering with evidence and a firearm specification related to a 2025 shooting in Madison Township must serve at least nine years in prison. Hunter Congrove, 23, state Route 45, could face a maximum 12 years in prison if the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections chooses to keep him inside at the end of the nine years, dependent on his behavior in jail. LISBON — A former Columbiana man in prison for at least 39 years for attempting to kill a woman with a baseball bat and then setting her home on fire last year had his plea hearing for a separate case of menacing and attempted intimidations reset to 1 p.m. Sept. 28. LISBON — Lisbon village council talked pool repairs, the proposed skate park, a single trash hauler proposal and fees for food trucks this week. Regarding the pool, council agreed this week to spend up to $8,000 for Joe Colian of Salem to dig out the concrete around the pool to get a better look at cracks and where the water’s leaking. “We have to start moving. BELOIT — The West Branch Local School District is projected to remain in the black for the next three years before trending into the red amid ongoing funding uncertainty for Ohio’s public schools. SALEM — A West State Street restaurant has had its food service license suspended. According to a press release, the Salem City Health District suspended the license of Sunny’s Chinese Restaurant following “a standard food safety inspection” on Monday. During that inspection “the establishment was found to have critical food safety violations, including improper food temperatures and preparation practices” prompting Environmental Health Director Charles Weatherly to issue an immediate suspension.
