Salem parks commission reviews rental prices for 2027 season

SALEM — The parks commission reviewed its rental prices for the 2027 season in its July meeting. Parks Director Kelli Pastore said that most of the department’s rentals were slated to remain unchanged, but that updates were being proposed to some fees to meet rising expenses associated with those facilities ahead of the city council’s upcoming review of the city fee schedule. Second-half real estate tax bills now due Oct. 2

LISBON — Columbiana County property owners now have until Oct. 2 to pay their second-half real estate tax bills, with the bills expected to be mailed out two weeks from this coming Monday, in mid-August. Columbiana County Commissioner Bryan A. New cafe to support area veterans

SALEM — A new group benefiting local veterans is set to hold its first meeting Wednesday. The Veterans Cafe, a new program to support area veterans, will host its first monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Xterra Health, located at 130 S. Salem parks commission discusses employee wages update

SALEM — The parks commission discussed updates to employee wages in its July meeting. Following an executive session for the discussion of employee wages the commissioners voted unanimously to adjust the pay scale for the department’s receptionist position, currently held by Diana Harshman, from the current rage of $11 to $14 per hour, to $12 to $16 per hour. The increase will still need to receive approval from the city council as an update to the city’s wage ordinance.
