Lisbon cyclist to pilot blind athlete across 863 miles in race across the west

LISBON – Local ultra-endurance cyclist and race director Joe Lawhorn is preparing for one of the most meaningful challenges of his decorated cycling career as he teams up with pioneering blind athlete Tina Ament for the 2026 Race Across the West. The race begins June 16 in Oceanside, California, and covers 863 miles before finishing in Durango, Colorado. Two local public libraries receive grant funding

Two local public libraries have been awarded state funding. The Salem Public Library will receive $10,143 and the Columbiana Public Library $13,500 in Guiding Ohio Online grants through the State Library of Ohio. During its May meeting, the State Library of Ohio Board approved more than $368,000 in federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funding for eighteen public libraries across the state.
