One dead, another hospitalized after vehicle crashes into building

SALEM (WKBN) — Police in Salem are at the scene of a crash where a car drove into a building, killing the driver Saturday afternoon. Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon Post dispatch said the car crashed into Perry Township Garage on Depot Road sometime before 5 p.m. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was airlifted to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown for their injuries. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Police make arrest after search warrant executed in Wellsville

WELLSVILLE (WKBN) — A search warrant executed Friday in Wellsville put a nearby high school into a soft lockdown while an arrest was made. The Wellsville Police Department, alongside the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and Columbiana County Drug Task Force, completed a search at a home in the 1000 block of Commerce Street, according to a post on Facebook. The post states that police found drug paraphernalia and narcotics within the residence and arrested Malik Pullie for an outstanding warrant. Lisbon council talks pool repairs, skate park and single trash hauler

LISBON — Lisbon village council talked pool repairs, the proposed skate park, a single trash hauler proposal and fees for food trucks this week. Regarding the pool, council agreed this week to spend up to $8,000 for Joe Colian of Salem to dig out the concrete around the pool to get a better look at cracks and where the water’s leaking. “We have to start moving. Summer’s almost over and we haven’t done nothing,” Councilman Jerry Cox said. Cox met with Colian at the Sadie Van Fossan pool at Cedar Park. Lisbon man gets nine years for 2025 shooting in Madison Twp.

LISBON — A Lisbon man who pleaded guilty recently to felonious assault, tampering with evidence and a firearm specification related to a 2025 shooting in Madison Township must serve at least nine years in prison. Hunter Congrove, 23, state Route 45, could face a maximum 12 years in prison if the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections chooses to keep him inside at the end of the nine years, dependent on his behavior in jail. West Branch to remain in the black for next three years

BELOIT — The West Branch Local School District is projected to remain in the black for the next three years before trending into the red amid ongoing funding uncertainty for Ohio’s public schools. During the school board’s August meeting, Treasurer Lucas Cooper presented the board with a forecast which continues to project a mixed financial future for the district.
