COLUMBIANA – The Historical Society of Columbiana & Fairfield Township invites the community to attend the Return & Re-Dedication Ceremony of the historic 1890 Stick Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the chapel in Historic Columbiana Cemetery.
The ceremony will mark the return of the Columbiana landmark following an extensive restoration effort undertaken to preserve the chapel for future generations.
The restoration, known as "Fix the Sticks," began in May 2022 as a collaborative effort between the Historical Society of Columbiana & Fairfield Township and the City of Columbiana. After more than four years of planning, work and community support, the restoration was completed in August 2026.
Jim Santini Builder Inc. served as the contractor for the restoration, carrying out the work necessary to preserve and restore the distinctive character of the 1890 chapel.
The Sept. 5 ceremony will recognize the completion of the restoration and formally re-dedicate the Stick Chapel to the community.
The public is invited to attend. Because seating at the chapel will be very limited, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
The Historical Society of Columbiana & Fairfield Township and the City of Columbiana welcome residents, descendants, history enthusiasts, and friends of the community to join in this special occasion celebrating the preservation and return of one of Columbiana's historic treasures.
