Birkmire, who is accused of cruelty to animals in the deaths of five horses last year at Pure Gold Stables in Salem Township. LISBON — The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center has started the new school year with the new class time change that is expected to give students more lab time. The change was approved by the board of education earlier this year, effective for this school year. As a result, instead of beginning the day at 7:50 a.m. classes are now starting at 7:45 a.m., resulting in an additional five minutes per day, which translates to a new daily career lab time of 179 minutes. EAST PALESTINE — The East Palestine School District has partnered with a non-profit organization to help with workforce readiness and career-technical education partnerships. The Board of Education approved a contract in August with Team Workforce of Youngstown at a cost of $197,465.
