The Lisbon Ruritans seeking volunteers to make apple fritters

LISBON – The Lisbon Ruritan Club is seeking volunteers to continue making apple fritters for the Johnny Appleseed Festival. The club has been making and selling apple fritters at the festive since 1968. In the early 1980s the club had approximately 50 members and prepared and cooked about 175 gallons of fritter batter, using seven fryers. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, it settled in with about 22 members and 120 gallons of batter and four fryers. Over the past decade, as the members decreased in numbers and increased in age, the club has decreased its batter from 120 gallons ...
