LISBON — Classes are underway this week at the Beaver Local School District following a successful Back to School Bash. United Local implements new grading scale for high school

HANOVERTON — A new grading scale is in place for United Local High School students for the new school year. The new scale is included in the student handbooks the board of education approved during the Aug. 15 meeting. The board originally approved going back to the 10-point grading scale earlier this year with it effective for high school students beginning this school year. As a result, an A grade is 90-100, B is 80-89, C is 70-79, and so forth. Wellsville residents vent frustrations with village issues to council

WELLSVILLE — Several residents had a lot to say regarding their concerns with issues in the village during Tuesday’s council meeting. During the public portion of the meeting several residents addressed their concerns about weeds and neglected yards owned by the village, noting if residents are supposed to take care of their property, then the village should be responsible for village property. Leetonia police investigating overdose death

LEETONIA — The Leetonia Police Department is investigating an overdose on Columbia Street. Police Chief Allen Haueter said that the department responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in the 300 block of Columbia Street at around 10 a.m. Thursday. Haueter confirmed that a 46-year-old woman was dead of from an overdose but said he could not disclose the victim’s name when contacted Friday afternoon. City of Columbiana announces extension for stormwater improvement project

COLUMBIANA — The City of Columbiana is announcing an extension for the completion of the ongoing Court-Herbster stormwater improvement project. The project was originally scheduled for completion on Aug. 22. During construction, several field conditions were identified that required adjustments to the original project plan and scope of work.
