Liverpool Twp. road department employees get raises

LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — Liverpool Township Road Department employees are getting a pay increase along with a switch to summer hours.

Township trustees Tuesday night approved both the pay increase and switch to summer hours following an executive session for personnel/compensation matters.

The 40-cents an hour pay increase will go into effect for all road department employees on April 4.

The summer hours, which consist of four 10 hour days, with the road crew working from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., will go into effect April 6.

Trustee Dennis Giambroni made the motions with Trustee Keith Burke providing the second. Both Giambroni and Burke voted in favor and Trustee Mike Bahen voted against.

The motions were approved with a majority vote.

Bahen was unavailable following the meeting to provide a reason for voting against the motions.

During the open meeting, the trustees discussed selling one of the trucks not used too often by the road department. The decision was between the 2016 truck and the 2006 one. The trustees and Road Department Supervisor Chris Bosworth were in favor of selling the 2006 truck, but there was disagreement over the selling price.

Bahen said he contacted International to get estimated selling costs and believed the truck should sell for $30,000 to $35,000. Bosworth said the truck is worth more than that.

Giambroni suggested discussion be tabled on the matter until more research could be done on the value of the truck.

Giambroni and Burke voted to table the matter; Bahen, who noted there was a township interested in purchasing the truck, voted against tabling it.

With a majority vote, the matter was tabled for a future meeting.

The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meet every other Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Township Administration Building, 2485 Boring Lane, East Liverpool. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 14.

Starting at $2.99/week.
