Company shows interest in leasing CCCTC land

LISBON — A company may be interested in leasing land owned by the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center.

Career Center Superintendent Jeremy Corbisello told the board of education recently that a local oil and gas company approached him about wanting to lease the school’s acreage.

The career center signed a lease in 2011 for five years that has since expired.

Corbisello said he would look into the feasibility of a lease and bring back some figures to the board for a potential decision down the road, if they opt to do so.

In other matters, Corbisello was also approached by Reno Contipelli from the Ohio School Boards Association about hosting a countywide open house.

The career center is currently looking at April 28 or April 29 as possibilities for a legislative update and networking session.

Corbisello then provided the board with a construction update on the new transportation expansion project.

“Things are moving along well. As soon as door frames arrive, block work will go up to the mezzanine level quickly. Sanitary plumbing for restrooms and floor drains has been installed as expected,” he said.

The $6.52 million project adds space for the auto repair and auto collision repair programs.

In yet other matters, the board accepted the retirement resignation of longtime treasurer Katherine Scanlon.

Corbisello said he recommended the board approved Scanlon’s retirement “against my best efforts to get Kathy to stay.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
