Tops 1341
Tops 1341 met on March 2 at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church, with Dorothy Garn presiding. Becky Andrews was the best loser and Darla Varney was runner up. They chose chocolate candy and French fries as the junk foods for the coming week.
The drawing winners were: 50/50, Garn; food chart and junk foods, Chris Plunkett; weight loss, Varney.
Andrews was three times in the best losers book. Varney held the travel box for week two.
The monthly best loser was Dena White and Garn was the runner up. Cathy Wollam was the exercise winner and Mary Gailey was the junk food winner.
Garn shared the February newsletter from Dianne Herbert, Tops Advocate, with the members. Garn also discussed upcoming events with the members. Plunkett will present the program next week.
The meeting opened with pledges and closed with concerns and prayers. Anyone wanting further information on Tops or the meeting location, can call 330-424-5027.
Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet
The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building will be sponsored by Jim Miller Hunt Club Lanes. The menu will include sweet sausage sandwich with onions and peppers, scalloed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. Drive-thru soup sale
Mile Branch Grange, 495 Knox School Road, Alliance, will hold its monthly drive-thru soup sale on Thursday, March 12. Cost is $9 per quart. This month’s soups will be chicken noodle and chili. Soup must be preordered by noon on Wednesday, March 11. Soup will be available for pick up from 4 to 6 p.m. It will be packaged and delivered directly to cars ready to heat when at home. Call 330-821-8023 to reserve soup. Leave name, phone number, type of soup and number of quarts.
Leetonia kindergarten screening
Leetonia Elementary School will hold kindergarten screening for students entering kindergarten for the 2026/2027 school year on Wednesday, May 6 by appointment in the elementary school library. Packets may be picked up in the elementary office beginning March 9. Appointments will be made when packet is picked up. Children who are age 5 by Aug. 26, 2026 are eligible to register for kindergarten. Parents or guardians should have the following information in order to register: child’s birth certificate, immunization records, two proof of residency, parent identification and custody papers if applicable. Banquet of Lisbon
The Lisbon Police Department will sponsor the Banquet of Lisbon from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 9 at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church. The menu will include vegetable soup, pulled pork sandwiches, ice cream and beverages. Carry outs after 6 p.m. if available. The meal is free and open to the public.
