EAST LIVERPOOL — The East Liverpool Beautification Society (ELBS) recently announced a grant in the amount of $7,500 from the Beaver Creek Realtor’s Association to be used to improve the corner of Sixth and Broadway streets.

Jennifer Barrett, an ELBS member, said in a recent social media post, the clock which was given to the city to honor Dr. Marc D. Hoffrichter stands in the lot directly across from where the new Revolutionary War Memorial will be unveiled in July.

Barrett noted that The Task Force Fawcett Project which was started and led by Hoffrichter in 1992 helped revitalize the Central Business District of East Liverpool’s downtown with hundreds of thousands of dollars raised and invested back into the city for infrastructure, landscaping, aesthetic elements and business growth, and the clock was given to the city in his honor for “recognition of his efforts to improve our hometown.”

The grant money received will go toward placing new tables, benches, a little free library box, signage and more in that space.

To have the clock, which is currently just the casing, repaired and restore its functionality as part of the project to fix up the corner will require an additional $10,000.

The ELBS has launched a fundraising campaign to save the clock. Donations can be made at online with a credit or debit card at https://link.clover.com/urlshortener/gQLGs2 or by mailing a check to made out to ELBS with clock in the memo line to ELBS P.O. Box 448, East Liverpool, Ohio, 43920, or in person at East Liverpool City Hall, 126 W. Sixth St.
