COLUMBIANA — Back by popular demand is the popup Gorant Chocolatier in the city’s Red Brick Commons at Firestone Farms.

Co-owner Bergen Giordani located the popup within the Sabi’s dining room just in time for the Valentine’s Day and Easter holidays.

For the second year, travelers to the restaurant, which is located in the highly traveled retail development, provides a unique seasonal opportunity for Gorant’s to get their sweet treats within Columbiana, which is the fastest growing municipality in the county.

Red Brick Commons currently is in midst of adding another building nearby, and Giordani didn’t outright dismiss the possibility of making the Columbiana location more permanent, although she admits she enjoys the hospitality of working with Sabi’s in the seasonal arrangement.

“We love our partnership with Kristen and chef Sabi,” she explained as they have been wonderful to work with.

One of Gorant Chocolatier’s most popular items is its wide selection of Yum Yum, individually wrapped loose chocolates. A small selection of favorite flavors, which include various meltaways, caramels, nut clusters and mints, is available for purchase at the chain’s Columbiana popup in Red Brick Commons. No sugar added options also will be available  soon. A larger showcase of loose chocolates, or Yum Yums, is available at the Boardman flagship location. (Photo by Stephanie Ujhelyi)

Gorant’s has more permanent locations throughout both Ohio and Pennsylvania. In addition its flagship location complete with dessert bar in Boardman, Gorant’s also calls New Castle and Strongsville home.

Customers also have the option of ordering through their website, gorant.com, and having orders delivered to any of the locations for pickup, including the Columbiana popup, she added.

As part of the Youngstown Chocolate group, Giordani and her partners acquired Gorant in 2023, eventually expanding their locations and adding the dessert bar in 2025 to its Boardman flagship location, where customers can enjoy a variety of cocktails, appetizers and, of course, desserts.

In addition to the expected heart shaped boxed candies, including chocolate covered strawberries, and love-themed plushies found at the Columbiana popup for Valentine’s Day, Giordani said that inventory will be replaced by Easter-themed inventory once Feb. 14 passes.

For Easter, Gorant’s typically offers a variety of favorites, included chocolate mini eggs, Easter bunnies and large eggs in its favorite Yum Yum flavors as well as jelly beans and other seasonal gift ideas.
