EMS department requests made to Leetonia council
LEETONIA — EMS department requests dominated most of village council’s agenda when members met Wednesday night.
Recently added firefighter Garrett Brewer was hired as a student to the EMS roster with no hourly rate noted, and council agreed to EMS chief Robert Sanchez’s request to purchase a $2336.39 electronic locking drug storage device.
Assistant Village Administrator Roman Ferry said there also was discussion about the Leetonia Fire Department’s need to upgrade its current apparatus, both 30 years of age.
Estimates place the price of a new fire truck at $1 million; however, the Lisbon Fire Department recently was able to acquire a barely used one for a significant savings, so Leetonia is considering that same approach.
Further complicating their search is newer truck tend to be three feet longer than their current building, which has seen better days.
In other action, council passed emergency legislation to install a sewer line on Main Street from Chestnut to Oak as part of their revitalization project.
The next council meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. March 4 at council chambers.
