Columbiana Planning Commission to keep same meeting date

COLUMBIANA — The city’s planning commission still is going to conflict with the monthly meetings of the city school board, which share a member.

During Tuesday’s council meeting, a proposed meeting day change failed to garner a second to become an action item.

Last month, the commission had to postpone its regular meeting due to the unavailability of Dylan Fletcher, who also sits on the school board.

To avoid that happening monthly, the commission asked council to move their meeting date.

Mayor Rick Noel had appointed Fletcher to a vacant commission seat earlier last year. While serving, Fletcher decided to run for school board and was successful.

The school board typically meets at 6 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month and the meetings are rarely over by the planning commission’s start time at 7 p.m.

The planning commission had requested a new meeting date of 7 p.m. the second Monday of the month.

The planning commission still is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Feb. 10 at city hall.

In other action, council:

— Approved a second reading of the amendment to zoning ordinance for the Christmas lights building.

— Passed emergency ordinances to advertise for bids to purchase materials and contract for labor with two upcoming projects on for Fairfield Avenue culvert project and Nulf Drive project.

Starting at $2.99/week.
