Columbiana BOE approves retire/rehire for top administrators
Mook, Sharshan, Davies to return
COLUMBIANA — School board members arranged retire/rehire arrangements with three of the school district’s top administrators Tuesday night.
Returning in August 2026 after approval of five year contracts will be superintendent Don Mook, assistant superintendent/elementary principal Kim Sharshan and treasurer Kathy Davies.
Their contracts run through July 31, 2031.
Zack Davis was employed as head wrestling coach for the 2025-26 school year.
The school board also approved supplemental contracts for Caleb Sims, weight room supervisor (December through June); Morgan Cushman, middle school yearbook advisor; Amy McCormick and Ashlee Sherwood, who will share the titles of robotics advisor; Susan Wilson, head speech advisor and Courtney Weinstock, assistant speech advisor.
Board members also employed the following: Erik Hopfenziz, assistant boys’ basketball coach; Valerie Waselich, assistant girls’ basketball coach; Andrew Good, freshman boys’ basketball coach; Ryan Fahs, seventh-grade boys’ basketball coach; Quentin Cross, eighth-grade boys’ basketball coach; Ray Steeb, ninth-grade girls’ basketball coach; Jordan Reynolds, eighth-grade girls’ basketball coach; Madison Moser, seventh-grade girls’ basketball coach; Mike Kenneally, winter athletic trainer for basketball; Eamon Eavers, weight room supervisor (December through June); Luke Landsberger, middle school wrestling coach; Todd Johnson (boys) and Andrew Good (girls), middle school skills development coaches.
Nathaniel Churchman also was brought on as a volunteer for the robotics program.
The district also entered a Memorandum of Understanding with the Family Recovery Center regarding vaping and intervention services.
Board members also approved a proposal with Strollo Architects for architectural and engineering services required for new softball and basketball field located at the Columbiana Middle and High School properties.
The next monthly board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 in the high school media center.
