WELLSVILLE — The Buckeye Water District (BWD) Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Tuesday to vote on the approval of a cyber-security policy which was required by the state to be adopted by all local governments and jurisdictions by Sept. 30.

The BWD prepared a cyber-security policy which was reviewed and adopted by the board with an all favor vote.

According to the resolution, “the policy provides guidance on access control, system security, data protection, incident response training and vendor management, while requiring consultation with IT professionals and legal counsel for implementation and customization.”

The policy will be effective immediately.

The Auditor of State requires the policy be fully implemented with technical and training requirements completed no later than June 30, 2026.
