Goshen trustees approve resignation of police officer
GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — The board of trustees approved the resignation of a township police officer in a special meeting Tuesday.
Immediately following the start of the special meeting for the discussion of personnel matters, which was advertised with the possibility of disciplinary action of an employee, trustees voted unanimously to enter an executive session for the discussion of personnel matters which Police Chief John Calko was invited to join. Following an approximately 10-minute session, Trustee John Bricker made a motion to accept the resignation of Sgt. Domenico Marchionda effective immediately.
Calko said that the meeting had initially been a disciplinary hearing for Marchionda for a tier three policy violation for internal sexual harassment, but Marchionda chose to resign prior to the hearing. Calko explained that the department’s policy mandates that a hearing be held for any employee who commits a tier three violation.
The board of trustees will meet next at 6 p.m. on Sept. 9.
