CALCUTTA — Beaver Local School District has been recognized for excellence in financial accountability, receiving the prestigious Auditor of State Award from Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber’s office. The award, announced in June 2025, highlights Beaver Local’s commitment to financial transparency and accuracy.

“It’s an honor to receive this award on behalf of the school district,” District Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer Stacy Williams said. “This recognition reflects the dedication and integrity of our entire team. I especially want to commend Assistant Treasurer Johnny McComas and Payroll Administrator Jessica Lucas for their diligence and hard work.”

The Auditor of State Award is presented to public entities that meet stringent criteria for financial reporting. Recipients must submit timely financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and receive audit results free of findings for recovery, material weaknesses, or significant deficiencies.

“By keeping accurate financial records, governing bodies demonstrate their commitment to efficient, effective, and transparent service,” Auditor Faber said. “This award honors public entities that have put in the hard work to keep their finances in order.”

The award was formally presented on Aug. 4 by Dawn Baker, East Regional Liaison for the Auditor of State’s office, to Williams.

Superintendent Eric Lowe praised the team’s achievement, noting, “Beaver Local is proud to be recognized by Auditor Faber. This award represents the high level of commitment to financial stewardship demonstrated by our outstanding financial management staff and all Beaver Local employees. We appreciate the dedication of Mrs. Williams and her team on a daily basis.”

Williams emphasized that maintaining fiscal integrity in a district of Beaver Local’s size and complexity is a collective effort. “When a school district of our size receives recognition of this type, it’s only because many people care enough to do what is right, the right way, every single day,” she said.

For the Beaver Local community, this recognition reaffirms the district’s steadfast commitment to sound financial management and accountability. “The citizens you represent are well-served by your effective and accountable financial practices,” said Auditor Faber. “We have a great team, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together,” Williams said.
