Salem Community Theater to present Cinderella

SALEM — The Salem Community Theater will bring the magical, musical story of Cinderella to life this week.

The Salem Community Theater will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella under the direction of Melissa Kuttler with musical direction by Amy Winner and choreography by Kathleen Lasiter Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m., with a matinee performance Sunday at 2 p.m.

First produced for television in 1957, and adapted for the stage in 1958, Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella tells the time-honored story of the hard-working and kindhearted Ella who leaves a life of servitude under her cruel stepmother and stepsisters and finds true love with the help of her fairy godmother.

The production promises to sweep audiences off their feet by bringing “a timeless fairy tale to life with charm, heart, and a touch of sparkle” with a “a talented cast and creative team in a dazzling retelling of the cherished story,” starring Kate Congo as Ella. With an award winning score featuring songs like “In My Own Little Corner,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” and “Do I Love You Because You’re beautiful” Cinderella will offer “an unforgettable theatrical experience where kindness triumphs, magic is real, and a single glass slipper can change everything,” for the whole family.

Tickets can be purchased in advance through the theater’s website at www.salemcommunitytheatre.org, with a limited number of tickets available for purchase in person at the box office beginning an hour before showtime. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.
