COLUMBIANA — Members of a youth rock-n-roll band cannot help but feel a little conflicted these days.

Revamp, a tweaked version of Domino Effect, made its public debut recently at the Columbiana Chalk and Music on Main event when not all of the members of Domino Effect could play the gig.

Andrew Reigsted, one of the band member’s fathers who allows them to rehearse in the family’s basement, said as a result of the well received performance, both configurations will play in a Battle of the Bands contest next month in Youngstown.

Players include Micaiah Reigstad, on guitar; Cameron Keiffer, guitar and vocals; Nathanael Denny, guitar and backup vocals; Gracey Mager and Willow Shank, on vocals; Carly Shevock and Michael Conrad on drums; and Jon Luke on bass.

He described it as a bit of a hybrid right now as the high school aged teens are off the summer, while others are off to college.

Michiah, Nathanael, Gracey and Carly are all students at Heartland Christian School in Columbiana. Only Carly is a member of the school’s band, playing the French horn. Michael attends Columbiana High School.

A few of the members are involved in praise teams, while others are looking to take the next step with music.

Cameron graduated from Boardman High School and is studying music production at Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music. He also had played the viola for his high school orchestra and participated in honors choir.

The band’s set list includes a whole list of their favorite covers from Elton John, Michael Jackson, the Cranberries, Pearl Jam and Ozzy Osbourne to name a few.

This is a good representation of their individual music tastes that can be described as somewhat eclectic, including John Meyer and the Beatles to Metallica. However, the one thing they also can agree on is that they aren’t fans of country music.

Overall, band members hope that music still will be part of their lives five years from now, when the majority of them will probably be in college; however, they remain unsure of to what degree.

For Michiah and Nathanael, they hope to be pursuing music at the college level like Cameron.

Gracey hopes to always keep music as part of her life, but she is interesting in pursuing nursing.

In the case of Willow, she wants to keep learning informal in her pursuit of music, but she envisions that may be more in a church setting for her.

Both Domino Effect and Revamp can be seen competing Saturday, Aug. 2 at Rock Bottom’s Battle of the Bands against five other bands. The bands take the stage between 6 and 8 p.m. and play two or three songs.

Rock Bottom is located at 554 S. Meridian Road. The cost is $10 per person at the door.

The winning band not only scores a headline booking next year at the venue but also half of the Battle of the Bands’ event collected cover charges, according to Micaiah’s mom, Melinda Reigstad.

Domino Effect will return to Rock Bottom from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, when itwill be one of five bands performing as part of a Christmas event that includes a costume contest and giveaways. More information can be found on Rock Bottom’s Facebook page, .https://www.facebook.com/share/1QLkohdE4q/
