Fire SHAKER Works set for June 28

COLUMBIANA — For the third straight year, a community-minded, non-profit organization is looking to its Independence Day fundraiser to help its favorite causes.

Shaker Woods Helping Hands is holding its third annual Fire SHAKER Works on Saturday, June 28, at the Shaker Woods grounds, 4337 County Line Road in Columbiana.

Gates open at 4 p.m.

Cash donations are accepted for admission to the event. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held the following day, June 29.

Kim Sharshan, the organization’s secretary/treasurer, sees daily upclose the community’s greatest needs as principal of Joshua Dixon Elementary School and assistant superintendent of Columbiana Exempted Village School District.

Activities for the day’s event include cash bash giveaways every 15 minutes between 4 and 8 p.m.; live music courtesy of the Conkle Brothers, Wells Brothers and Dickey White bands; food trucks and vendors, culminating in a Phantom fireworks display at dark.

Cash bash giveaway tickets are $10 each and in limited supply.

Since 2023, when it became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Shaker Woods Helping Hands has been dedicated to “restoring hope in the community and surrounding areas — one business, one family (and) one life at a time.”

Sharshan said that fundraisers, like this one, support other non-profits, provide financial assistance to families facing cancer by helping benefit dinners and offering other forms of support as needed.
