SADD donates blankets to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley

Members of Leetonia High School’s SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) recently stopped by the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley to drop off 20 homemade blankets that they crafted for those in need. Marsha Coffee, who is the high school’s Family and Consumer Services’ instructor, serves as coordinator for this program and this is the fourth time students have done this project. LEETONIA — Nothing provides the comfort of home but a warm blanket and a satisfying meal.

That is why Marsha Coffee’s SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) at Leetonia High School crafted 20 blankets for those at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

Coffee, who instructs the Family and Consumer Sciences’ Program, had this in mind when the students made the blankets.

“This thoughtful gesture warms our hearts and will bring comfort to those who receive one,” said a representative from the mission, whose purpose is to provide food and short-term emergency shelter and help individuals transition out of homelessness and into productive lives.

This is the fourth year receiving blankets from Coffee’s class.

Leetonia SADD students put their academic skills to practice in creating, measuring and completing the blankets. Materials for the blankets were provided through a generous donation to the FCS program at Leetonia.

For information on assisting Coffee with this effort in the future, call Leetonia High School at 330-427-2115.

Starting at $2.99/week.
