EAST LIVERPOOL — The Columbiana County Drug Task Force continues to remain busy in East Liverpool with another search warrant served which led to one arrest and the seizure of several types of drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash on April 1.

According to DTF Director Jesse Smith, Lisa Cunningham, the resident of 624 Avondale St., was arrested on an outstanding warrant after DTF agents made their way into the residence. Thomas Akers, who was not a resident, but considered a suspect, was also in the house at the time of the search and seizure. Cunningham and Akers both face possible charges pending the lab results of confiscated suspected narcotics from BCI.

Agents upon approach to the residence observed one of the suspects throwing a large bag of narcotics out of an upstairs window.

After searching the residence, DTF agents seized 96 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 28 grams of suspected cocaine, 15 grams of suspected fentanyl, eight grams of suspected crack cocaine, $519 in cash and drug paraphernalia and packaging consistent with drug trafficking. All drugs are considered suspected until BCI lab results confirm them.

Smith noted that this search and seizure is part of a larger investigation.

The DTF thanked all the agencies involved which include the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and Special Response Team, the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office, Columbiana Police Department, East Liverpool Police Department, Lisbon Police Department, and Salem Police Department.

The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office noted that tips help the DTF and residents who are aware of or suspect drug activity can leave a tip on the DTF Tipline by calling 330-424-0309.

Smith asked residents if they are pleased with the efforts of the DTF to remember that the searches leading to the seizure of drugs and arrests of the suspects are possible through the funding provided to them through the Columbiana County Sales Tax and ask that they vote yes on the tax renewal in May.
