MSWCD Fall Fish Sale
CANFIELD — The Mahoning Soil & Water Conservation District (MSWCD) will hold their annual Fall Fish Sale on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Canfield Fairgrounds, located at 7265 Columbiana Canfield Road.
The Fall Fish Sale will offer a variety of fingerling-sized fish, including fathead minnows, largemouth bass, bluegill, hybrid bluegill, channel catfish, red-ear sunfish (shell cracker), yellow perch, white amur, and Japanese koi. In addition to fish, essential pond-related products such as fish food, pond conditioner, and pond maintenance books will also be available for purchase.
To participate, orders must be submitted to the district office by Friday, Sept. 20. Orders can be placed by contacting the district office at 330-740-7995 or via email at askswcd@mahoningcountyoh.gov. The order form is available on our website.
Participants are reminded to bring their own containers to transport the fish. Five-gallon buckets with unscented poly liners (30-gallon trash bags) are recommended. Containers should be filled with pond water, only one-third full. Each container can hold up to 100 small fish, 1,000 minnows, or 4-5 amurs and koi.
“This sale is an excellent opportunity for Mahoning County residents to supply their ponds with high-quality fish,” said Kathi Vrable-Bryan, district administrator at Mahoning SWCD. “Fish act as excellent indicators of water quality and help improve it. We are excited to offer this event and look forward to seeing the community and supporting their efforts to enhance their aquatic habitats.”
