Aspire Kick-Off Open House Event set for Thursday

CANFIELD– Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, Adult Career Center has been awarded the Aspire Adult Workforce Education Readiness Grant to provide free services to adults in Mahoning and Columbiana County.

The MCCTC Adult Career Center on Palmyra Road in Canfield will host an Aspire Kick-Off Open House Event Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Ohio’s Aspire programs provide free services for individuals who need assistance acquiring the skills to be successful in post-secondary education, training and employment. Classes are offered at flexible locations and times to meet the diverse needs of adult learners.

Services include: Basic Math, Reading, and Writing Instruction; High School Equivalency Preparation; Preparations for College or Technical School; Test Preparation; English Language Acquisition; Tailor- made Bridge Programs; Corrections Education; Professional Development courses for local employers; and Workforce Literacy and Career Exploration.

Courses are offered virtually or through traditional face to face classrooms. Locations:Mahoning County Career & Technical Center, Compass Family and Community Services, Excellence Training Center -YSU, Salem First Christian Church, OCCHA – Organizaci¯n C vica y Cultural Hispana Americana Inc., and Online.

Classes are offered Monday through Friday at various times and locations in local communities beginning Aug. 12 and will run through the end of the year. The courses are designed to be flexible and accessible for all students.

Over the years, MCCTC has been a long-standing partner with local Aspire programs, offering classroom space, instructional materials, and shared graduation ceremonies. As a new fiscal agent, MCCTC will continue to offer services and positively impact the community with new and innovative programming by assisting individuals toward achieving high school equivalence and securing gainful employment.
