EL schools get new technology updates
EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool Board of Education member Tamara Cooper told the board during Thursday’s meeting about several technology, curriculum and text book updates planned for the 2024-2025 school year.
One of the technology updates will include a new webpage where parents could go to find all the information about their child’s classroom and extracurricular activities all on one page. The district would be receiving new science text books for the eighth grade and high school students, a new curriculum for the entrepreneurship career tech program and a renewal of the curriculum for seventh- and eighth-grade math and a new social studies curriculum. She also noted a new literacy program would be coming out next year
Cooper also noted that chronic absenteeism is down, and they hope to continue that trend.
Board member Larry Walton announced to the board that after serving as board member for 28 years, due to health reasons he would not be seeking reelection.
In regard to personnel matters, resignations were accepted and approved by the board for Mark Congo, payroll administrator, effective July 1, 2024, for retirement; Breonna Kopec, BCBA, effective July 31; Shelby Wagner sixth-grade advisor; Kim Balash, special education director, effective July 31, Jennifer Bowyer, intervention specialist, effective July 31; Jessica Giannone, intervention specialist, effective June 24; Mattisyn Infanti, fifth-grade math teacher, effective July 31; Jack Croxall, mechanic, effective Aug. 31, for retirement.
The board approved the following for hire as supplemental employees for the 2024-2025 school year: Brian Rudibaugh, bowling, at a salary of $3,394.74; Josh Reed, girls varsity basketball at a salary of $6,434.73; Robert Nizer girls varsity assistant basketball at a salary of $3,304.31; Mary Davis, girls reserve basketball at a salary of $3,304.31; Jeff Wright, wrestling (varsity assistant) at a salary of$3,304.31; Mikayla Reed, basketball at a salary of $2,951.51; Patricia Reynold, basketball at a salary of $2,865.54; Julie Voorhees, swimming at a salary of $3,394.74; Jason Croxall; drama (winter), at a salary of $1,074.78; Alexis Schuller, sixth-grade advisor at a salary of $238.80; Josh Reed, girls basketball (elementary), at a salary of $2,466.06; Jeremy Shaw, wrestling (varsity) at a salary of $6,434.73; Jeff Wright, wrestling (varsity assistant) at a salary of $3,304.31; Jeremy Shaw, wrestling (elementary) at a salary of $1,074.78; Tess Neville, volleyball at a salary of $2,069.78; Brian Beverly, intervention specialist for Westgate at a salary of $40,985.45; Kade Reynolds, boys head varsity basketball at a salary of $6.434.73 and boys elementary basketball at a salary of $2.466.06.
Administrative appointments approved for the 2024-2025 school year with a one-year contract include: Brenda Thurner, school psychologist; Kim Allen, payroll administrator; and Randy Taylor, associate high school principal.
The board additionally approved a number of administrative contract renewals, certified appointments, certified contract renewals, salary adjustments, classified appointments, summer/seasonal and casual workers and other personnel and a non-renewal of a contract.
Per the treasurer’s request, the board members voted all-in-favor to accept the financial reports, appropriations resolution, amended certificates, cash summary, cash received reports for May 2024, the renewal with East Liverpool City Hospital for athletic training services, an intent to cooperate with OME–RESA for cooperative services for fiscal year 2025, the proposal from Pro Vision painting to have Patterson Bleachers painted, renewal of service contract with Johnson Controls and the renewal of contract with SC View.
The board approved additionally approved an agreement with the ESC of Eastern Ohio for school audiology services and with Willis Mobility.
They also voted to approve the donations of the elementary school hand washing stations.
The East Liverpool City Schools Board of Education meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the district administration building. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 25.
