The musical will run for only one weekend with five performances scheduled March 16-19.
The shows that run March 16-18 will begin at 7:30 p.m. There are two matinee performances, one on March 18, and on March 19. These performances begin at 2 p.m.
“This colorful, fun-filled show has been charming audiences all over the world for nearly two decades since it was first performed in 2004, and we are so thrilled to be presenting this sensational musical to our patrons,” said Justin Fortunato, Producing Artistic Director of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. “With its irresistible blend of hip-swiveling hits, eye-popping fashion, outrageous dance moves, and heartfelt stories, this show is a can’t miss!”
Director Sharon Schaller describes the musical as a story of five women facing challenging situations, some of which involve relationships. The women discover a “Dear Abby” style advice columnist in a local magazine called “Shout.” They send multiple letters to columnist throughout the story.

The columnist, Gwendolyn Holmes, responds telling them not to worry about it (the issue) and to go get their hair done or go get their nails done. Schaller said. Soon the women start to realize through the music of the sixties that they can do more than just be housewives and that they can aim for being working women and stepping away from bad relationships.
The musical features popular songs from the sixties such as “To Sir with Love,” “Downtown,” “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” and “Goldfinger.”
Schaller believes most of the show’s music will be very recognizable with songs by Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark and Lulu. She also believes the costumes are a huge highlight for the show.
Choreographer Jennifer Verba and costumer added dancers to show who incorporate a lot of sixties movement into the production such as the twist, the jerk, the mash potato and the frug.
The musical will also feature live orchestration on the stage with three professionals who play the keyboards and drums.

“It’s a very high energy show. The singing is phenomenal; the dancing is phenomenal,” Verba said. “There is no intermission. It’s about an hour-and-a-half production. One of my biggest things I like to say is I feel like the audience is going to be sitting in their seat the whole time just smiling and having an enjoyable moment listening back to these songs from the sixties and seventies and just enjoying the production.”
It’s a fun show with some good comedy that will make the audience laugh, Verba said. There is a little bit of everything
The performance features 32 cast members who are all students at Lincoln Park.
