Salem Christmas Parade
SALEM –The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the Salem News is sponsoring the Salem Christmas Parade with the theme “Peace on Earth” at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1.
The parade route will start at the Salem Senior High School to Lincoln to State Street then Ellsworth, ending on Second Street. Light Up Night will be held on the front lawn of Salem City Hall immediately following the Christmas Parade.
Prizes will be awarded for Best Commercial, Best Religious, and Best Non-Profit floats. Contact the Chamber for applications at 330-337-3473 or info@salemohiochamber.org. Deadline for applications is Nov. 25.
‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
COLUMBIANA — Indigo Family Theater is inviting community members to attend its inaugural production of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
After the 2020 pandemic closure of the Main Street Theater, local community members and thespians formed a new company with a mission to bring theater back to Columbiana.
“We cannot wait to welcome the residents of Columbiana and Northeast Ohio to ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’,” said Board President Dan Hudock. “We have seen the great people of this area rally behind our efforts and know we all benefit from family-centered entertainment.”
Showtimes are: Dec. 9-10 and 16-16 at 7 p.m.; and Dec. 11 and 18 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $19 for general admission and $16 for seniors, students and veterans. Tickets can be purchased in advance at https://www.columbianaculturalcollective.com/buytickets or at the theater on performance days.
Seventeen local professional and amateur actors and actresses make up the cast of the play.
“The classic story of George and Mary Bailey and Clarence the angel is the perfect way to start the holiday season and bring a bright spot to your day,’ said Play Director Kristine Caporale.
Founded in 2022, the mission of the Indigo Family Theater is to offer wholesome plays, musicals, improv and many other avenues of entertainment. This volunteer driven company plans to produce five more plays in 2023.

Lisbon Schools veteran’s day
LISBON –Lisbon Schools will be honoring veterans on Friday.
A breakfast for veterans followed by a program will be held at 9 a.m.
A program for veterans will be held at 1:15 p.m. for veterans at the David Anderson Jr./Sr. High School program at 1:15 p.m.
Volunteer Health, Resource Fair
SALEM –AmeriCorps Seniors/RSVP will host its first annual Volunteer Health and Resource Fair from 1-4 p.m. today at the Memorial Building.
Volunteer opportunities in Columbiana County will be discussed with representatives from non-profit agencies about their specific needs.

Art show opens Thursday
EAST LIVERPOOL –The Carriage House owner Scott Shepherd is welcoming 11 local artists to display their works in his shop over the holidays.
A show opening is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Refreshments will be served. Paintings, prints, cards and calendars will be available for sale through Christmas.
Shepherd says he is ” very excited to offer this opportunity for local artists.”
Participating artists include Jeanie Gordon. Nancy Hawkins, Becky Hawkins, Christi Kacvinsky, Karen Kosola, Carol Liebschner, Sheri Liebschner, Ruth March, Christa McIntosh, Suzy Mikusevich and Melissa Nentwick.
