CALCUTTA — Bringing hope to those who sometimes find hope hard to come by has been the mission of Family Care Ministries since its inception, and now there is a second location where people can seek that help.

The formal opening was held Tuesday for FCM’s second location at 16215 St. Clair Avenue, joining the offices at 119 West Sixth Street in downtown East Liverpool, which opened in June of 2017.

President Josh Lytle said the new location, much like the original site, will offer many services, all aimed at “restoring brokenness.”

Clinical counseling, community outreach, crisis intervention, clinical assessments and Discovering Freedom classes open to the public will be among the services provided.

The Discovering Freedom classes are not only for former addicts but for families of those with loved ones in addiction, and Lytle said the theme will change regularly throughout the year.

Teachers change as the staff comes together to decide what classes are needed.

All classes are completely free, including the materials, although donations are always needed and appreciated by FCM, which operates solely on the generosity of the community.

Lytle and Alyssha Hoberek, both recovered from addictions themselves, serve primarily in the downtown office as administrators, counseling and training and in crisis interventions as well as scheduling school programs.

Brenda McIntosh, a licensed independent clinical counselor, will serve at the Calcutta location as well as downtown, assisted by her husband, Phil, with clinical counseling available Monday-Friday and some appointments on Saturday.

Lytle said, “We’re pretty much on call 24/7” for crisis intervention.

His father, Donny, and mother, Donna, and Katie Ibbs are also among those who work at the two locations.

Family Care Ministries is also still working to prepared the Freedom Homes, a residential facility outside Chester, W.Va., where residents 18 and older will attend class during the day, learning work skills, life skills and ethics training, etiquette and manners.

According to Lytle, Freedom Homes — which will be located in a house donated to FCM — is “almost done.”

Meanwhile, anyone interested in classes, counseling, entering detox or any aspect of FCM can call the main office at 330-368-0725 or stop in at either the downtown office or the new location.
